Monday Night Combat |OT| Some action on a monday night

Not sure about that problem, back in the beta if you tried to join a server and it kicked you instantly, trying to join another without at least quitting back to the menu would freeze the join button, but for what I know:

-Most servers from i3D are still running the beta software, these show up (bug being fixed) but you can't join them, it will say missing DLC.
-Sometimes a server says there is 1 slot but actually it is full, doesn't happen all the time but it's another bug beng squashed.
-Servers which say -1 or -2 ect are where two people tried to join at the same time, the game think there is 13 players when there is not so the value of slots left open goes into minus.

I played a few games last night and most of them were actually settled in a satisfying manner. Maybe the patch hadn't gone live the last time I was bitching (previous page) since it downloaded quite a hefty update this time.

I still wish the turrets were a bit harder to destroy and there is something weird about the map rotation. Spunky Cola and Steel Peel (ugh) almost seemed to be the only maps on rotation, which isn't at all how it was in december. Someone should tell people you can veto.

New update:
Summary
This update focuses on the new player experience. With the influx of players coming from PAX East we wanted to make sure that the new Monday Night Combat fans get to play with other new fans without getting rolled over by veterans. With the new All-Star Rating system players will be able to get an idea of their skill level vs the others on their server. The balance adjustments to armor endorsements and the default class changes were aimed at continuing this goal by making the newer players live longer but the veteran players, who are usually armed with custom classes, be more in balance when they use these endorsements.

New Features
• All-Star Rating System - The All Star system is a system to rate players so that they have more visibility into the overall skill level on each server. The All Star Rating is a continuously adjusting five star rating. Play well, it’ll go up. Play poorly and it’ll go down. We will improve the system in future updates as we get feedback and data.
• New Outlander Gear!
• New Penny Arcade’s Cardboard Tube Samurai Uniform for Assassin!
• New Taunts while wearing Outlander Gear!
• : New votekick functionality. A player initiates a vote by typing in the console. PLAYER can be the player's name or their player number from the . Once a vote is in progress, other players type or in the console. If ⅔ of players vote to kick, the player will be removed and not allowed to return for some period of time. The exclusion period increases greatly with each subsequent votekick.

Fixes
• Fixed issue with grapples after getting knocked into the air
• Fixed rare case of Assassin getting a back grapple when she is actually in front of her target.
• Fixed Ping display in scoreboard
• Dedicated blitz servers immediately end rounds and return to lobby when all players have left the game.

Balance
• Reduced the benefits of armor endorsements for Assault, Support, Sniper and Assassin.

Adjustments
• New Game Summary display before the end game scoreboard
• Altered the default Assassin and Sniper builds to include armor endorsements
• Increased the chance of JuiceBot spawning during a game in honor of PAX East

Dedicated Server
• Dedicated Servers can set the Max Star Rating for the server by adding ?MaxStarRating=[0-4] to the commandline options. This is a zero based index so the actual value is +1 the entry (ie 0 = 1 star)
• Updated commandline and UI support, updated batch files to support AllStar Rating

IMO, adds nothing of worth. How about some new maps?

You're goddamn insane. They fixed a few incredibly obnoxious glitches and nerfed some of the most OP class's survivability.
I still feel they need to put more effort into growing a stable active player base. Right now the game is averaging at 500 people playing at one time (And that isn't even accounting for those playing single player), and is likely to do like most game and gradually go down if they don't add more content. The game has 4 maps to play on, it is something to tire of after a good 10 or 20 hours. I want some new maps or gameplay modes, or at least the ability to make custom maps (Something TF2 supported within a week of Beta), not cosmetic items. Balance and bug fixes are all well and good, but it is not going above and beyond.

MNC has 6 maps for multiplayer (what TF2 started with might I add). TF2 supported custom maps so soon because it was made by a larger team and Valve already had experience with releasing map/mod tools for their games AND it's their own engine and tools anyway.

I mean are you seriously comparing what Valve accomplished in a similar time frame to what a team that is more than likely 1/20th (or less) their size has accomplished?

I was really hoping for $5 (okay really really hoping for $3.75) but $10 is kinda tempting.

It's an amazing game though, I loved the crap out of it on the xbox. Is the map editor out yet? I'm not double dipping for $10 'til I can play some new maps.

No clue about the editor I havent tried the pc version yet either. I also love the game on Xbox played it alot, but graphics lag and getting hosted sucked, so I hope thats fixed for this version.

"Hey now I was in there too. What is your steam ID?"

Tre`

Ah yeah you were totally destroying me tonight. I like the game, but I am unsure if I like it enough to drop 10 with my backlog. I've been doing so good recently clearing out too. I'll see how I feel by the end of the weekend.

Adding.

Play on Tre's team. It will feel like a different game. A winning experience.

so how active is the userbase for this game? i'm thinking of buying it today. my biggest concern is being able to easily find a room to join. i used to play a lot of tf2, but after 500 hours i'm tired of always playing the same maps with nothing interesting/new happening and of the fact that the pyro was always getting the short end of the stick

this game seems interesting since it's similar to tf2 with more gimmicks which i hope would keep me hooked for at least enough time to pay for itself, but i'm worried about the possible lack of activity

since i forgot to clarify, if i pick it up it'll be on steam

Never had a problem playing a full match on 360 or PC, not played for about 2 weeks but it's not going to suddenly die in that time.

Just got back into this game since launch (360)

The new Crossfire map (Spunky arena or something) is complete shit.

what's your main beef with it? you can approach it in quite a few ways but it is a very very rush based map design.

Well since it's a steam only game you can check the stats for it at the steam page. It usually has almost 1K people playing...which seems kind of low for such a great game.

I like it, games seem to finish quicker.

It puts the bot lane in the middle of the action, so that people will actually escort their god damn bots. I do agree the map feels very, very off, but after playing for a while I got used to it and found it to give all the classes a fair amount of justice.

What I really want is for their to be a map with three or four lanes. The next map to release combines the bot lanes just like Spunky Cola except near the friendly spawn and for a little bit in the middle of the map.

New patch is out...havent played this in a while but always meaning to get back into it as it's an awesome game.

Summary
It’s the Throwback Throwdown in Monday Night Combat! Uncle Tully’s Funland is now available in Crossfire with new game play features! First up we have Chickey Cantor. He will now spawn in Uncle Tully’s Funland. Make Chickey fly away by shooting him and earn a big single-life buff for your entire team! Wait for Chickey to slam the ground and then you can grapple him. Ride him for eight seconds and earn big money! Just be careful, riders tend to be easy targets for enemy Pros. Secondly we’re introducing new bot spawners. These spawners have buttons for specifically spawning Jackbots, Black Jacks, Slims, Scramblers, Gremlins, Gapshots and Bouncers.
We also focused a bit on the server side features of Monday Night Combat. We’ve included reserved slots, easier kicking and some improvements to the All Star Rating system.

New Features
• New Crossfire Map: Uncle Tully’s Funland
• New bot spawn buttons for Uncle Tully’s Funland
• Chickey Cantor now spawns in Uncle Tully’s Funland
• New reserved slots for server admins
• New Action Menu. The Action Menu is an in-game menu for accessing buttons to easily mute players or vote to kick them.
• New animation for all Pros when they use jump pads
• Added in a new random lines from Mickey Cantor during the course of the match
• Reserved slots for players, settable by the server admin. Players are specified by SteamID in the HostileAccess.ini file; in a similar manner to how players are listed for banning. Adding an entry to the "VIPIDs" array (for example "VIPIDs=0x0110000104524662") will cause that player to be a VIP on the server. When a VIP attempts to join a full server, the server will kick the most recently joined nonVIP player to make room for the joining VIP. If a server is full of VIPs, then any incoming VIPs will be rejected as normal. VIPs must still know the server password (if any) to gain entrance. Also, if a VIP is banned, the ban will take priority over VIP status. ALSO, the cooldown period which a player who has been votekicked must wait before rejoining a server has been made configurable. The default value of VoteKickCooldown=10 (minutes) can be modified in the HostileAcess.ini. Note that a player who has been votekicked off of a server must wait VoteKickCooldown*NumberOfVotekicks minutes before being allowed to rejoin, thus further discouraging repeat offenders.

Balance and Adjustments
• Added back the number of juice uses in the end game summary
• Adjusted the way we calculate All Star Rating
• Adjusted the key bindings screen to accommodate the new action menu
• Changed the hit sound for the cardboard tube on the Cardboard Tube Samurai skin for the Assassin
• Reduced ban time from a vote kick
• Increased height of glass barriers in Grenade III Arena

Fixes
• Fixed issue where level 3 Assault charge did not deal enough grapple damage to Bots
• Fixed Sniper’s juice armor obscuring scope visibility
• Fixed high frame rates causing reduced initial movement speed
• Fixed normal maps textures on Assassin’s sword and dagger
• Fixed Assassin’s being visible at distances they shouldn’t be in maps with fog
• Players can no longer be killed after the round has ended

It's interesting to see Uber really stick with this game. The peak players every day is only about 300-400, yet they routinely release huge updates (this last one was 500 MB). I'm not sure what they could do to revitalize interest in the game though.

Free weekend or lower the price (even though it's already dirt cheap at $15)

I would really like to see this game get the credit it deserves but the small community does sadden me a bit.

Still no xbox updates...
I own both but uber always said they would never leave the console players out in the dust... um...yeah...

Not played for a while, need to go back and see the new maps and shit, still love the game and the £50 statue I have of the assault on my desk :D

Of course my desktop has to be out of commission when they drop a big update... I really wish UE3 was on Macs so I could still play.

For some reason I started playing again (360) and it's just as fun as it always was. This game is fantastic. I am really surprised there is another update on the way...

The aggressive texture streaming on the PC version is starting to bug me. Any fixes for that? A search didn't really turn up anything.

SMNC looks very nice, but as an XBL player, why should I care XD

Ahh well, hope for a console release. Very cool to see the game grow, just won't be a part of it at this rate :(
