I REALLY don't understand why other games haven't copied it in all the years that have passed since PSO. It was such a simple but incredibly effective idea. So many people dismiss the game as a Diablo clone, but it had so many brilliant ideas, and creating a global community that could communicate properly with each other was one of them.
In the PSO days the Japanese welcomed you, as long as you were polite and were there to play it properly. They'd drop rare items for you from the Japanese quests, and because of how fanatical they were about the game over there, they'd end up taking you to hidden areas (I will NEVER forget being led through the waterfall in ruins for the first time to the hidden bit), you'd learn new techniques for fighting bosses etc.
It was such a memorable experience. PLEASE Capcom, copy this from PSO! Because Sega seem to have forgotten they ever did it ...
