Monster Hunter 4 Ultimate : first English trailer

The music and surrounding presentation seems pretty un-Monster Hunter like, bit you have got to do what you got to do to sell this. Hope early 2015 is January or February.

It's hilarious that they aren't showing the actual gameplay full-screen at any time in the trailer. They need to hide those ground textures, I guess. Anyway, I can't wait to finally get my hands on it.

Any chance for a Wii U version? I love my 3ds, but I've had the most fun with the series on my Wii U with Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate.

I think it works well with the imposed limitations.

I'm ready for that insect staff capcom

Since you're not giving us a physical copy for ace attorney

You should give us a physical copy for the game instead.

I'm definitely buying this day one I was hoping for HD WiiU version but I don't think it's happening this time

Super pumped

Gonna need to invest in an XL with circle pad.... ugh shoot me

Cant believe it take them till 2015 to get this bastard out

Wait can you finally play this online on the 3DS?

Aye.

And for the Wii U people: the series creator stated in March that MH4 is focusing on the 3DS with no plans for WiiU version. Maybe something has changed since then, but...

2015 can't come fast enough!

Though that's good in my case. Still have backlogs, and with Smash coming this summer and possible PQ localization this year MH4U can wait.

I really like MH3 for 3DS. I didn't like the limitations on traps, tranquilizers and such. I'd experiment more with weapons if I could perhaps carry 1 blade and 1 firearm at the same time.

Did they really say "Big Game Hunting" in that trailer? Hyper serious western marketing aside, my body still aches for this game. I've managed to get this far, so another ~9 months or so shouldn't hurt (;_ ;)

Wait, did I just see someone carrying a sniper rifle complete with bipod at 1:23?

That's a Heavy Bowgun by the looks of it. It's one of three ranged weapons you can use.

Tbh now that it has native online play on the 3DS, I dont really care about a WiiU version anymore, 2015 tho ughhh

not that I have anything against MH on a portable (since that's where I started), but I always preferred the online experience on consoles. I don't know how to describe it other than 'the feel of PSO'. Plus communication options are probably gonna be gimped on the 3DS.

But if this is all we get this time around, that's fine. I'm buying it either way just like with MH3U. This is the version I've really been looking forward to anyway - my friend only has a 3DS and has always wanted to get into the series, but we never had a way to play online together.

As for bowguns, their controls have always been hard to get used to but it'd be fine if you had a circle pad pro. I actually switched to HBG full-time towards the end of my time with MH3U. Maybe I'll play through the singleplayer with one in 4U...I always used melee on my singleplayer playthroughs in the past.

Also, if there's one thing I'm looking forward to in this game it's gonna be watching 3rd/4th gen players deal with Rajang.

Yes, I'll play ANOTHER portable version of MonHun.

But I really, really, really, really want another HD version. It's awesome on WiiU.

Rajang isn't really that hard even in FU. The legs are ultra safe in that game and you could stay there and beat up on his tail but in 4 at least he can do a really quick turn into laser/punches to somewhat cover it

I usually use the left stick for bowgun aiming in 1st person view anyway, so it's no big deal. I still prefer having the circle pad pro around for camera control the rest of the time, but there's players who get by without it just fine.

You really don't need the circle pad. The monster target button works fantasticly. Once I got used to it on 3DS I never bothered using the second stick on WiiU.

I could never get used to the bow controls with CPP :( I guess I am weak.

Longsword/Lance user for life.

Nintendo would be wise to get out the checkbook for a Wii U version. MH3U didn't sell gangbusters on the system, but it did decently and it would be a pretty solid act of goodwill to the fans. Getting lost in 3U in HD on the big screen was one of my top gaming experiences last year, and I don't think it would be the same on the 3DS screen.
