Monster Hunter Freedom Unite Thread

i just had to hire that cat, because of his name only, "BokChoy", a chinese vegetable that i do enjoy.
turns out he attacks mainly with bombs. thought he might be helpful, in blowing open gravios's stomach.

Haha, when I hired my first cat I didn't even bother looking at his stats, I just had to get him because his name is 'Sanchez'. I'm not sure why I found that so amusing. Turns out he uses both weapons and bombs so things get pretty unpredictable with him.

Also, didn't know Bokchoy is a type of Chinese food. It's also the name of that Aussie-sounding zombie boss in Prinny so I thought it was an Aussie thing.

I'm slowly but surely making progress in this game. I don't have much time to play it each night so it's going slowly. I loved the little cat guy you send on a safari via your Pokke Farm, I was LOL'ing at his sailing away animations.

I killed a Bulldrome for the first time last night, which was my hardest fight to date. Was really rough, but I took him out in the end. The sense of satisfaction after taking down a beast like that is fantastic.

Wait until you fight a Kut Ku for the first time...

AND...then eventually you're as frightened of Bulldromes and Kut Kus as you are frightened of raccoons.

The sense of empowerment this game gives you based almost entirely on skill and knowledge of the monster you're fighting...it's awesome.

Its great because you get a continuing sense of satisfaction after every new kill. The fights get progressively harder and you know you are gaining skill and progress. Feels good man!

It's really uncanny, I've never played a game quite like it for this very reason. I mean, I've not leveled up or anything, I've only upgraded my Bone sword once (currently trying to find some med. monster bones to upgrade it again, so far no luck there :/) and bought/made some new armor, but yet I'm able to tackle things that would have killed me in no time flat when I first started.

The Bulldrome was tough, but just rolling out of the way, sheathing my weapon in order to gain some distance, and taking my time and not getting in a hurry to kill him, I took him down only having to use 2 potions when I would mistime a roll.

Incidentally, I was also shocked to discover that certain areas of the desert sap your health, I guess from the heat? I'm assuming heat resistance fixes this, but I made a heat res adornment and put it on my chest plate, but it wasn't enough I guess.

this is why I think it stands out for me from other mmorpg-ish games, because it plays upon real world skill, like any halo or street fighter. I've sunk a good 700+ hours since the ps2 MH, and I'm STILL getting better every time.

Cool Drinks are your friends.

Except when it's night time in the desert. (Be sure to read the quest description) At night in the desert, you will want Hot Drinks because it gets cold.

It's lovely on that level at night with plenty of pretty lens flare. xD

Have been away and thus offline for a fair bit so have been doing the single player village stuff I've always neglected. Didn't realise it was so tied to the farm upgrades and everything else, so that explains why I found the farm pretty useless for this long!

Hope to have a more successful hunt with Tek and kassatsu sometime since I still have that fucking giant crab to beat and rank up and Tigrex pissed on us when trying to get Tek ranked up amounting to a very unsuccessful night of hunting for me!

Cool Drink from any of the stores. Or you can make cool meat as well.

I am probably a good 500+ into mine and I still haven't fought everything. Didn't help that I started with MHF2 then restarted when I hit HR8 and started 2G. Then I ported that save to Union. Still got Crimson/White Fatalis and Ucamulbas to hunt.

Too bad I was out with some coworkers I would have come along for Monday night hunting! The besarios with 4 people would have been a blast. I did 4 solo with my new bow but with 4 people pounding the guys I can see how 10 would be cake. Nice job!

Hating G*** quests so far. On the path for clearing those out. I have been using my bow for Gravios and Tigrex as I remember the grief I had with those guys using melee weaponry.

I prefer to take these out solo. I sort of laugh when my roomy gets "help" with all the hard stuff. HR9 and still having trouble with elder rank quests?

+1 here as well.. plus the fact that there are no levels and money always has a use (unlike phantasy star portable) prevents the game ever really having an "end" which is great.

I am broke again after upgrading all those swords last night.

you guys know that lg bmb + the cave, sell all, and gold hammer the tree, sell all is a quick way to earn $$$ between each mission.

Been trying to put some time into this when i can. I got stuck on Bosarios since i was mainly using the Eager Cleaver so i moved onto the HR quests and got to just before HR3.
I decided to try out another weapon on the Bos. so i went with my newly upgraded Kut Kut Hammer and i have been using it a lot since which i was suprised since i was a pit hesitent in using hammers but they are actually quite good.

Now im 3 Thunderbugs juices away from getting my Devil Slicer and then im gonna have to make an attempt at the rest of the 5* V.Elder quests.

I think i am definitly going to have to try play this online with you guys at some point but i havent done that yet so im still a bit unsure of how i do that, i know you need that program and you need to use your PS3 but other than that im clueless :D

Not played a Monster Hunter game before but this thread is making me want to try this one out. I have a PS3 so that makes the multi-player easier. Sounds great.

Anyone know what species of cat Felynes are modeled after? Cause I saw a girl walking what looked like one the other day and I would have asked her but she was too hot to approach.

Anyone wanna do some Treasure hunting tonight?

You know, the countless hours I have played MHF I have never once did a treasure hunting quest. EVER.

If I did I would want to make the g-rank gathering/backpacking set though.
