Capcom Co., Ltd. (Capcom) today announced that worldwide sales of Monster Hunter Wilds, released on February 28, 2025, surpassed 8 million units in 3 days, which is the fastest a title has reached this milestone in the company’s history.

Monster Hunter Wilds is the latest entry in the Monster Hunter series and is set in a dynamically changing world that is in one moment a severe wilderness, swarming with packs of attacking monsters, and in the next transforms into a rich natural environment teeming with life. Monster Hunter Wilds features grand, beautiful visual depictions made possible by the RE ENGINE, Capcom’s proprietary game development engine, and cross-play, allowing players to enjoy the game together regardless of their game platform.

Following the game’s announcement, Capcom promoted the appeal of Monster Hunter Wilds to a broad audience worldwide, exhibiting the title at global video game events and holding an online open beta test to give many players a chance to try it, while also providing updates on game information via the online events such as Monster Hunter Wilds Showcase. As a result of these continuous global initiatives, Monster Hunter Wilds has evoked massive excitement and achieved sales of 8 million units in 3 days, the fastest any game has done so in Capcom’s history.

Capcom remains firmly committed to satisfying the expectations of all users by leveraging its industry leading game development capabilities in order to create highly entertaining gameplay experiences.

Holy shit, that one leaker who said 5-6 million actually underestimated the number lmao

Well deserved, because technical issues or no, the game is fun

All the people screeching on the Internet just learned a valuable lesson about how fun Trumps all other things, as if games like Skyrim didn't already prove that decades ago

Wow, monster number. Congratulations Capcom. Thats massive. I wonder how many are ps5 version sold? Im still waiting for my salary to get this game for my base ps5. The game run decently on base ps5 and ps5 pro, but I still hope to they add update like increasing the capped frame rate for balance mode from 40 into 50 fps for both base ps5 and ps5 pro, and add RT reflections on the quality mode of base ps5.

Great news. I was expecting 10 million in the same time period tbh after seeing a combination of the reviews, being on 3 platforms and those early CCU numbers.

Monster Hunter is now in the GTA, CoD, Zelda and Pokémon tier of ridiculously huge sales at launch.

I’m really enjoying the game. I don’t get the criticism of the visuals tbh. The game is very crisp and very smooth on the PS5 Pro.

Am I happy that the future of MH is safe or am I disappointed that people reward developers releasing half broken stuff?
I´m a bit torn.
Same, on one hand the success means bigger budget, better games etc.

Then i think about world and wilds and i'm not sure if being that successful with world was for the best if the result was rushing their next game to look good in in their fiscal quarter with shareholders or whatever and streamlining the shit out of it to attract even more people while fucking up your old audience in the process.

Some brands really suffer from success.

HR 40 at the moment and I am having a blast.

I needed a rare material from Jin Dahaad so I did a few multiplayer matches. Three of them ended in a failure due to teammates dying :messenger_grinning_sweat:

Got two of his Ice Gems on the last run though and now my hunter looks dope af

The game is so damn fun. Sales fully deserved.

Really? Witcher 3 also was released not in a very good stat and after all these years CPR still couldn’t properly do PS5 upgrade for it and yet people in GAF still love to gosh about Witcher 3.

If people enjoying the game then people going love and play it despite technical imperfection.

Thinks buying more servers can fix a bad patch
A large chunk of sales is PC gamers in Asia. Sony's first party doesn't develop games for that crowd

China is big time saving AAA gaming, specifically with action games. It's incredible what has happened there in the past few years. It's like 80% PC users

That’s about the same ratio for Black Myth Wukong sales platform split. Almost 80% on PC

Its my fear with Fromsoft and Miyazaki souls games ... if everything is like Elden Ring from now on .. than Im fucked.. because I hated even if the mainstream finally can love it because of the changes... nothing last forever I guess.

Making the game a casual wet dream worked great apparently.
People keep saying that, but it hasnt been my experience. I haven't reached high rank yet, but many low rank monsters have kicked by butt like never before. I'd say Wilds low rank has been harder than Rise high rank. I went back and checked. World low rank was also very easy, maybe other than Kirin which was optional.

The difference is for LOT OF people World was their very first MH experience, for first time players getting used to the combat and control was tough challenge.

Not my (and really most people experience), the game feel way easier than rise that was already easier than world.

Small health pool
Not enough damage taken
Busted wound system
Powerful palico
Too streamlined in everything

And i'm not even using the battle chicken to heal or recover from ko or repair the weapon.

It probably depends on the weapons used. Most people saying its easy are probably using the cheesiest easy win weapons.

Yeah, I said as much in the thread that said it only sold over 4M. PC alone peaked at almost 1.4M CCUs and if PS5 is anywhere near that, it also peaked at over 1M CCUs. No way over half the buyers were on at once.
