WHO DEY!?

It could be the Steeler O-line, but the running game seemed a bit too strong in this build. We had multiple runs of over 30 yards, including a 68 yard TD run. We’re sure this will be tightened up before launch. The sprint is mapped to the right trigger, and most of the current-gen features (like the Truck Stick) are in place as well. Jukes are performed via the A button along with the analog stick to determine the type of shifty move. The stiff arms and juke animations look fantastic, and the run cycles don’t have the PS2 era appearance that we’ve seen since Madden NFL 2001. EA has thrown out numbers like over 5,000 new animations in this game, which absolutely crushes current-gen numbers. It does show as the action on the field just looks more realistic. It’s like watching Disney animation; you don’t know why, but it looks right.

We didn’t have much luck in the passing game, but it wasn’t on account of the Vision Cone feature, which is in the game but is off by default. The default angle seemed closer to the action than in previous versions, but you do have the ability to pull back to a coach’s cam or to check passing routes. Big Ben had to scramble a few times, evading a Bengal LB one time, which looked true to form, but the receivers didn’t provide much help – one pass was dropped, while the other was violently knocked loose by the corner.

The collision detection is still a bit off, with players on the line locking up robotically and sliding along the field, but again the game is still more than a month away and this wasn’t even the most updated build.

Sounds good so far.
