Most Anticipated Cancelled Games

Metal Arms II.

Dammit, it was already in development when Vivendi Universal pulled the plug due to disappointing sales of the original. :(

Giftpia, though I don't know if it's actually been cancelled.

Giftpia is out in Japan. I can't believe it hasn't been released in the U.S. though considering the Animal Crossing has enjoyed.

btw Giftpia is getting a PAL release very soon (this month iirc) but there is no US release planned AFAIK

I always really wanted to play Gunbeat. I heard it sucked, really, and that's why it was cancelled, but when Treasure announced that, it was one of my most anticipated games.

Holy crap, that is quite a list.

Yeah, but only about seven of them were any good.

The list of canned original PS2, Xbox and PC titles this generation would make for awesome graveside reading. I've learned to stop anticipating games and that way they never get cancelled.

Gunbeat isn't on your list.

I forgot about this. And at the following E3 it turned into Roll-o-rama, which got good impressions. Sounded fun to me. My biggest would be Earthbound 64, though. Also, not releasing Mother 1+2 in the US is pretty shitty.

Some of those titles I've never heard about! Sonic & Knuckles RPG? damn! Streets of Rage 4... Even a WARP game.

Wave Runner, I remember that one in the arcades. That was a fun friggin game

Fear Effect Inferno
True Fantasy Online
Propeller Arena
Capcom Fighting All-Stars

Fear Effect is the one I wanted to see released the most; it's not too late to revive it! :(

I still think Capcom Fighting All-Stars will be released sooner or later; this is the same company that released Final Fight Revenge (another game that didn't make it past testing) for the Saturn in 2000, several years after the system was dead. :P

I bought a DC after hearing that Colin McRae Rally 2.0 was being ported to it. And Revlimit kept me away from the PSX for the longest time. >:(

the one with zombies a la gta
Dead Rush!!! I wanted that sooo much. A GTA game where the city is overrun by zombies. They hang on your car as you drive! With big bosses that you fight while driving.

Also:

BC
Unity
Giftpia

Strident looked kinda nice too, by the makers of Kingdom Under Fire for Xbox. Though the gameplay didn't look particularly interesting, I liked the art design.

Didn't Riqa become Rogue Ops?

Man that game sucks :(

I remember being stoked about the Middle Earth MMORPG and Ultima Online 2 back in the day.

The only article I ever know to mention it was pre-Shuffle, and I have the impression that what they saw was part of Shuffle's battle engine being ironed out.

I kind of wonder if there isn't a Sonic Adventure 1.5 sitting around at Sega. Maybe not dramatically as RE 1.5, but I've heard muttering that only Sonic, Eggman and Knuckles were originally supposed to be playable. (The original trailer and media didn't shown Rouge, Shadow or Tails playing, but I assumed that was because they constituted some of the most dramatic newness, with Tails being mech-bound and Shadow and Rouge's purpose being kept a surprise), The Official DC Magazine even talked about a sequence on a sinking submarine that just absolutely did not happen in the game. (It's _possible_ they saw an interior shot of the ARK and confused it for a sub, their description actually seems to fit Cannon's Core if you look at it loosely... but they mention a choice you can take that could only at best fit as wasting 5 minutes at Finalhazard, and that just doesn't make sense.)

well, it was never announced...and maybe it still is in the works...but I don't have much hope that it'll come out, at least in a non-bastardized form :(

The Red Star (yes, I know it's floating around on the Net ready to be warezed, but I'd rather have an official copy)

I know; and I everything short of guarentee that that's why it hasn't been picked up. A Majesco or the like is missing out on a solid seller, or at least my ~$45.

Gotta throw Outcast 2 some more love.

The original - voxels and all - remains one of my very favorite games (if not my most).

damn. how did a game that was that good looking not get picked up/funded by SOMEBODY? Anybody? Must have been something wrong with it somehow, cause that shit still looks good right now, and those screens were released in what? 2002?
