Most-improved series this generation?

Even though i'm not a particular fan of the series, I'd say Mortal Kombat has probably managed to redeem itself this generation.

i'd have to go with GTA not cause i'm a big fan of it, but i just can't think of anything that improved tons.

I can't believe that people are picking sequels to some of the best, most loved games of all time as most "improved".

I mean....Super Metroid??? You can't improve upon perfection, people. Backtracking in 2d >>>>>>>>> backtracking in 3d, IMO. You also lost a lot of abilities that just didn't translate to 3d. And some abilities that were kept did not function nearly as well in 3d.

I'm just waiting for someone to say Super Mario 64 DS. :D
Even though I am thouroughly enjoying it, I would say most improved. Sure it's improved, but not enough to make it on this list.

Exactly. That's why I vote Spider-man2. From mediocre film-tie-in to an excellent game in it's own right. Other games are improvements on an already excellent formula.

Metroid Prime: transition to 3D - large up grade
MEtroid Prime2: new levels, multiplayer, slight graphical tweaks
Halo2: new levels, graphical upgrade, dual wielding( :O ), online
Halflife2: new levels, graphical upgrade
Doom3: new levels, graphical upgrade
Pikmin2: new levels, dungeons, multiplayer, new pikmin, challenge
Mario Sunshine: new levels, graphical upgrade, fludd
Zelda: new levels, graphical..uh..change..., sailing, camera system
GTA: San Andreas: new levels, slight graphical upgrade, RPG elements, larger city, rural, etc

Spider-man 2: entire city, proper swing mechanics, GTA-like freedom, random "missions", graphical upgrade, -the game is practically totally different.

The new GTA is such an improvement from the others, such a huge city, so much open area to drive, and so many surprises(i won't spoil them here). It feels like a real city now, i can't imagine how awesome the new GTA on the PSX3 is going to be.

The new Dragonball fighitng game is a huge improvement from the others.

The VF series!!

Both VF3 & 4 were huge improvements over #2. While VF3 is probably the most fun - VF4:Evo is the best best!
