i'd have to go with GTA not cause i'm a big fan of it, but i just can't think of anything that improved tons.
I can't believe that people are picking sequels to some of the best, most loved games of all time as most "improved".
I mean....Super Metroid??? You can't improve upon perfection, people. Backtracking in 2d >>>>>>>>> backtracking in 3d, IMO. You also lost a lot of abilities that just didn't translate to 3d. And some abilities that were kept did not function nearly as well in 3d.
Exactly. That's why I vote Spider-man2. From mediocre film-tie-in to an excellent game in it's own right. Other games are improvements on an already excellent formula.
Metroid Prime: transition to 3D - large up grade
MEtroid Prime2: new levels, multiplayer, slight graphical tweaks
Halo2: new levels, graphical upgrade, dual wielding( :O ), online
Halflife2: new levels, graphical upgrade
Doom3: new levels, graphical upgrade
Pikmin2: new levels, dungeons, multiplayer, new pikmin, challenge
Mario Sunshine: new levels, graphical upgrade, fludd
Zelda: new levels, graphical..uh..change..., sailing, camera system
GTA: San Andreas: new levels, slight graphical upgrade, RPG elements, larger city, rural, etc
Spider-man 2: entire city, proper swing mechanics, GTA-like freedom, random "missions", graphical upgrade, -the game is practically totally different.
