Finally, a rugged flagship phone:
If you've ever dropped your phone and had the soul-destroying moment of finding your screen smashed to a thousand tiny pieces, Motorola's latest top-end smartphone might be just the thing for you. It's called the Moto X Force, and Motorola boasts that its screen is "shatterproof".

The phone is essentially a better-equipped variant of the Moto X Style (called Pure in the US), which launched earlier this year. Besides a 5.4-inch display with 2,560x1,440-pixel resolution, the Force comes with an octa-core processor, 21-megapixel camera, expandable storage and the option to customise the design with different materials, including leather, using the Moto Maker online tool.

The Moto X Force will hit UK stores in November and will come with a £499 price tag for the 32GB model, or £534 for the 64GB model. There's no pricing available for Australia yet, but the UK prices roughly convert to AU$1,075 and AU$1,155 respectively.

The US version is a Verizon exclusive and it's called the Motorola Droid Turbo 2 -- they're branded very differently, but they are the same phone in all but name. The 32GB model and 64GB model are available for $624 and $720 respectively over a two-year contract.

Shatterproof. Brave choice of words, I feel like this thing will be beaten all over YouTube etc.

Yeah, people are going to drop it from building for sure. Maybe even use drones, like here:

Still though, even if it shatters you can still exchange it since it's advertised as shatter-proof: "4-year shatterproof warranty":

No other manufacturer (I know of) makes it part of the warranty / will repair shattered glass free of charge.

Does this use the same "stock" Android as the Moto X Pure?

That's an awesome battery.
Afaik Motorola has that near-stock Android on all of their devices.

Challenge accepted.

Edit: Oh, that's right. This is that phone that I really really want but I can't get because I'm a US resident who doesn't have Verizon. Fuck that shit.

I read it doesn't shatter because it's plastic. It gets scratches like crazy.

Moto's page just says "Exterior layer," which is ambiguous.

So it's plastic?

The only other device that comes somewhat close to competing with this is the LG V10.
Thanks, I have put it into the op. Although it doesn't seem like they offer the same kind of warranty against shattered screens.

Verizon? No.

Well at least you can buy it off contract:
"Starting at
$624.00
off contract"
http://www.motorola.com/us/products/droid-turbo-2

only verizon would change the phone look with their logo on the front.
That does look ugly for sure. Seems like you can't even remove it through moto maker (their customization).
The rest of the world has been spared though :D
Here's a video from UK: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jQ869HP3PFs

Unbreakable display eh?

Wish they put that on the Nexus 6...as I just shattered my display.
Ironically, I shattered the screen on my Moto X 2014 not too long ago...by dropping it on linoleum from like 20-30cm :|

This is indeed interesting. I will definitely put it in the OP if it's confirmed. Would be complete buzz kill...

Wow, a decently sized pure, with an 810. Battery looks ace too.

Lol @ Verizon only tho. Carrier-only devices need to fully die.
