Movies That Only You Like

Anyone else willing to back me up on either Alien 3 or Predator 2? I honestely can't understand why they are so disliked. Alien 3 would have been a far, far better way to end the series than Resurrection.

I have never mentioned it on this forum but I absolutely loved the first. Saw the second in theaters but didn't enjoy it as much. It's hard to strike gold twice on so ridiculous a plot which is why I'm usually not a fan of outlandish comedy sequels.
I can understand such a viewpoint. I enjoy, though, how they take what was already a ridiculous premise, and then make it more ridiculous to top what they've already done in the first movie.

I like Alien and Aliens
Terminator 2
and the Shawshank Redemption

I'm pretty sure I'm the only person on earth to enjoy these

Seriously:
Gangs of the Dead

Only one who digs this flick. I love it. Fudge-the-world!

You will just marvel at what a jerk Costner can be.

Oh, see, now I'm not sure I want to read this: appropriate for the thread, I may be one of the only living Costner apologists. Love the guy.

Quigley Down Under

Whenever I bring this up to friends, we all start laughing hysterically at just how much I like this movie and GENUINELY THINK IT'S GOOD.

Are you my friend Eric? I haven't gotten around to seeing it, myself, but he'll swear by this movie.

I can't help you with Predator 2, but Alien 3 is a favorite of mine. I'd never make the claim that it's better than Alien (nothing in the genre is) but it's absolutely superior to Cameron's turd.

fuck the haters.[/QUOTE]

It's a great movie but for some reason it's always annoyed me that there's no coach.

Dragonheart is a good movie. My brother loves that flick.

Weekend At Burney's [1&2] are family favorites of mine as well. If you really think about it, that's a pretty strange movie to show kids. :lol

I haven't seen the play, is it any good? I'm not about to judge the play based on its film, but I'm just wondering. Overall, It's pretty funny, especially with Christopher Reeve going from playing Superman to this, just a really fun movie to watch.
Well, it (Noises Off, for those LTTP) is a play, so the production is going to effect the impressions of it. I saw a fairly sizable production of it with a rotating set and loved it, but I'd think a staging with lower production values could still pull it off well.

Defending Your Life - One of my favorite movies. Albert Brooks is at the top of his game, especially when he and Rip Torn are together in a scene. Meryl Streep is hilarious and absolutely radiant in this movie. One of her best performances.
I kept thinking of this movie while watching After Life, and you're right, it's a great movie. Lots of neat little touches, like Shirley McClain's cameo, and great one liners. It really makes you cheer for Brooks at the end.

Big Trouble - Honestly, pretty much anything with Tim Allen. I don't care, I think the dude is hilarious
While I wouldn't go quite as far as your man-crush on Tim Allen, I enjoyed this movie too. I chalk it up more to Dave Barry's writing than Tim Allen's acting.

I also really love The Whole Nine Yards.
Another comedy that I loved.

Oh oh oh! I remembered a movie that only I like, and it's old enough that none of you contrarian whippersnappers can prove me wrong on!

Made In Heaven

The only bad memory of this movie was that I had a perfect date and we ended the date by watching it (including backrub) and afterwards, I didn't even have the guts to go for the goodnight kiss.

I only skimmed the first and last pages, but I already see a lot of movies I really like. Is there something wrong with me?

My pick:

Not only do I love it, it's in my top 5.

I got your back on Alien 3 too. I really enjoy it and think it's surprising that it turned out as well as it did considering all the issues and changes it went though to get made (a wooden planet? What?). Definitely better than the disaster that was Resurrection.

I've only seen Predator 2 once or twice when I was a kid, but I didn't hate it then.

I don't know a single person who likes this movie. The cinematography alone is worth a watch. A great story and well told.

I loved it too, I was luck enough to watch it at the Arclight Dome in Hollywood a couple years ago and it was amazing.

I can better tolerate the works of Kevin Costner than most humans: For Love of the Game, Waterworld, and The Postman.

Also, I don't think Ishtar is all that bad, either.

I could list dozens depending on how far I go back. I grew up on 80s movies that people would hate today (along with ones you all love, of course).

Star Wars 3
Van Helsing
League of Extraordinary Gentlemen

I think these last two are two of the most fun action movies since...I don't know when. No, they're not good, but no action movies are good these days, a fact to which I can attest after having spent hundreds of dollars on DVDs looking for the first good action movie since...Speed? Or something.

The fountain.

Probably my favorite movie of all time. Yet, nobody likes it. :lol
I love it. There's a good number of us.

Throw another vote down for "The Village".

Also, some others.

"Black Rain"
"Empire of the Sun"
"True Romance"
"Killing Zoe"

and finally...

"The Quick and the Dead"

True Romance is pretty good and Black Rain is actually my favorite Ridley Scott film
and I'm ready to take any incoming abuse for that statement.

A while ago I was watching Synecdoche, New York with my parents and sister and one by one they all ended up "walking out" because they thought it was too weird. :lol

I really enjoyed the movie overall, but I wouldn't consider it one of my favorite Kaufman films.

I watched 3 of 5 on that list and liked all of them (True Romance was something of a cult hit in my country, best role of Brad Pitt's career and all that ;)). I guess I'll have to check the other 2, if you rate them close.

Anyway, here's some of mine - each of them very different in why general reactions usually aren't positive:
