This one might sting the most.
Monty "Kip" Sopp, better known as Billy Gunn, was fired today as a trainer by WWE due to testing positive for elevated levels of testosterone in a powerlifting meet from July 25.

Gunn's drug test at the meet came up with a 37-1 testosterone/epitestosterone ratio, well over the 4-1 limit, and he was suspended from powerlifting for four years.

Billy Gunn, 52, had returned to WWE as a trainer in 2012 after several years away from the organization. He worked as an agent and a trainer, and had a New Age Outlaws nostalgia run in recent years, winning the tag team titles with Road Dogg in early 2014.

He had done occasional run-ins at the end of some NXT shows with he and the babyface wrestlers ending shows doing DX crotch chops. Most recently, he had appeared on television as one of the trainers on Tough Enough and Breaking Ground.

WWE officials were not aware of him competing as a powerlifter until a few weeks ago or his suspension from that sport.

They weren't down with that, so they had two words for him.

Wait they test for Steroids in the WWE?!

Why!?

Edit : Nevermind, didn't read that correctly ; the powerlifting had nothing to do with the WWE.

apparently some wrestler killed his family and himself thanks to steroids

since then they've been all strict about it. unless you're in triple h's crew. or you're the rock. or you're ryback.

He shoulda caaaaaaaalled somebody

road dogg was definitely not juicing and one of my favorite B tiers from that era. i don't really get the obsession with having huge arms in wrestling. scott steiner was a juiced up monster and not a good wrestler, he was only entertaining when he was stumbling on words to me.

Huh, I didn't know he did powerlifting. I remember friends saying that he was one of the strongest wrestlers back when but I never saw any actual lift numbers to validate that. No surprise that he pissed hot, of course.

Yeah, Road Dogg's problem was pot and other drugs, right? He did turn his life around after finding religion like Shawn, though.

On topic, it's a shame that he wasted the contract away.

He's a trainer, not an active wrestler, right?

Part time talent. He was one half of the tag team champions
OF THE WOOOOORLD
not too long ago and had a run-in at WrestleMania 31. He also did stuff at NXT house shows apparently. So I think he was active enough that he should have been tested.

Nope according to John Pollock:

Producers and trainers are not subjected to the Wellness Policy in the company and therefore Gunn wouldn’t have been tested in his role at the company.

So he was never tested at WWE. So basically he screwed himself.

Im actually happy to hear that WWE drug tests. I had no idea they did that, I thought a lot of those guys used steroids. Considering how many of them die so early its good to see that they give a damn and try to keep it as clean as they can, hopefully.

Benoit was brain damage.

They were hitting guys well before that incident. It began in early '06. Orton got hit on it all the time (doesn't now though, because he's super protected), Kennedy, Regal, Festus/Luke Gallows, several others later on post-Benoit incident.

Their Wellness Policy is a phony anyways. Billy Gunn will be back in the company in short time. This is a PR move.

Actually that probably had something to do with the multiple untreated concussions.

Apparently being the key word here because that wasn't the main factor on the Benoit case

Before he was Mister Ass he was Monty the creepy handyman / roofer who wandered around my friend's neighborhood all the time.
