had this since launch and played it a couple of times, now I'm replaying it and it's addictive as hell. The time trial mode is excellent, but I'm pretty sure once you unlock reverse ones they are impossible..... Dristone mode (euro only) is perfect. Thats my girlfriends mode, shes playing it right now, I've never seen her enjoy a game and replay it as much actually.

Main driller mode is very fun as well, buying powerups and trying to finish the ridiculously deep levels is pretty fun but very frustrating. pressure driller is interesting, possibly lest favourite, but also very good. people should give this another chance, i remember when it came out it got pretty ragged on for being no where near as good as the GC one (that about 10 people have played anyway) but there is a lot of content here. Especially in Euro version, Dristone mode is like strategy driller.

anyone know if there is a character that can be unlocked in the character select middle circle?

it sounds great. i missed this at launch but i'm seriously considering getting it now. the euro version looks like the best. the dristone mode sounds excellent, and doesn't the eu version have multi play from one cart?

have you played zoo keeper? i've been hearing good things about it.

i find meteos too hectic sometimes, are these puzzlers more relaxed?

euro version is better, us one is entirely missing dristone mode, I think it does have 1 cart multi play, but there is a small catch, like you don't earn miles for buying stuff in the driller store, but thats ok you earn plenty from single player. my manual and case is in another country at themoment so I can't check :lol.

If you are euro and suffering the continued DS game drought, this game is perfect. if you can pick it up cheaper than full price, it's a steal. I actually think its worth full price though.

thanks, i think i'll get it.

if you can overlook the language issues, Mr. Driller Ace for GBA (Japan only) is MUCH better than Mr. Driller Drill Spirits. Possibly cheaper, too.

It got ragged on for being nowhere near the GC (Drill Land), PS One (Mr Driller G), and even original GBA (Mr Driller Ace) games. I think those of us who have played the other games all agreed that Drill Spirits was pretty decent, especially the non-mangled (Euro/Japanese) versions, but it's not like we're going to give it a free pass because "about 10 people" have played Drill Land. That should ideally inspire you to check out Drill Land, not to keep going back to the vastly inferior Drill Spirits, since the consensus of the measley 10 of us seems to be that it obliterates every other game in the series.

I'm pretty sure
Usagi, Ataru's rabbit,
can be unlocked in the center ring.

Now that I got Drill Land(despite bobbyconover never replied to my email on the offer about modding the GCN. I'm just wondering if you got my email bobbyconover, that's all, it was cool that you had that offer :)), I'm wondering why it's considered the best in the series. Is it because of all the songs or the 5 different themes of puzzles? I just feel everyone of them are pretty similiar. So the DS version is good too, and portable! unlike the GCN version. :)

Oops - I don't think I ever got an e-mail from you! The only one I remember getting (recently) was from Musashi and I'm not sure what ended up happening with that - we exchanged a couple messages and nothing came of it. He's probably still waiting for me to respond with my address. Sorry about that!

As for Drill Land, I'm surprised you're not so impressed by it! I see it as a combination of everything good about the other games, save for the unfortunate lack of Time Attack. It includes practically every piece of music from every previous Driller game, along with a ton of brand new awesome orchestrated tracks, so the music is definitely a big factor. I'm not sure how you figure that the 5 gameplay modes are similar. Drindy, Druaga, and Horror are all drastically different from one another -- only Star Driller and the Drill Parade levels are similar, and even those have their unique elements. Considering that Drindy and Horror Night are my favorite variants, you can imagine why I feel Drill Spirits is a bit lacking, especially considering that it came out 2 years later. The (unlockable) zoomed-out hi-res mode in the Drill Parade is great, too. I'm not a big fan of the 4 player modes, but I know quite a few people who consider them one of the game's best features. And I know it's a bit vague, but the overall production values of Drill Land are ridiculously high for a game of its kind. In comparison, Drill Spirits' presentation felt totally rushed.

heh never mind that, the email I sent to you was from last year lol. Since then I got someone to mod my GCN for free anyway. Is it really that easy to mod? :o

About Drill Land, I got it basically because of this forum's recommendation. XD While not as impressed as some of you are, I still enjoy it. It's the gameplay I was expecting something else. I found it too hard for me. :P I was expecting a more relaxing puzzle game. So that's just me. I'm impressed for the production values and the songs and music of the game though. So Drill Parade can be zoomed out, when will I unlock it?

Two points -

The US version does NOT have Usagi, in any form. Japanese version does.

The time trials are far from impossible. I believe I got through most of them using the dog.

haha, yea you sort of dissapeared at the end of that convo bobby, but no big deal. I'm still internally debating whether to jump into next gen and where to cut back on spending money on games (importing?). I appreciate it all the same.

If anyone in Europe is interested in swapping me a Euro Mr. Driller game for one of the USA released DS titles, let me know.
