Edit 2: Sooo, who thinks the endgame is gonna be we use that conveniently crashed UNSC Infinity's reactor to blow up the shield world? :P

What if... they make a halo/ringworld out of a slice of the shield world??? O_O

They should probably have a Halo in the game... just saying. >_>

Looks and sounds better than anything Bungie accomplished over 3 titles. A more serious approach maybe. A mate and I always loved the darker look and feel of Halo Wars cutscenes and were hoping Bungie would go that way with Reach, maybe 343 have instead.

Ooo I hope so. Halo Wars had the best cut scenes of any Halo game.

Might as well post them here :)

Some of my caps of the Spike Spartan Ops vid with useless commentary:

Is this Raparound? Lighting seems to have changed and looks darker now.

I can only make out the helmet armor customization, seems there are 7 ways to customize your Spartan IV's.

Unicorns?

Each episode has chapters?

A couple chapters are named:
1. Land Grab
2. Sniper Alley
3. The Challenge
4. Sacred
5. Core

Can't wait. Looking great.

Does anyone else share my concern with the lack of punch/bass in the human weapons?

The DRM for instance compared to the Reach DMR.

In Reach the DMR sounds like a rifle at the local range would (or at least approximate)

The DMR in this footage does not even sound like a conventional gun..(which it fictionally is)

i'm sure this has been discussed but there was a bunch of the new stuff that reminded me of the metroid prime series, like the new enemies, the new visor, the new plasma beam like weapon. that said I love it and the game looks amazing

We're not going to have to pay extra for Spartan Ops missions are we?

The first season is free...

But how in this or any other world would YEARS of story driven weekly content complete with cinematics and unique events adding up to hundreds of hours of gameplay be free?

Hm, I really want to know if Seasons are re-playable because it somehow sounds like playlists that go away - anyone has info on that?

Pretty much, I do expect a decent chunk of Spartan Ops missions up until Halo 5 and even lead into Halo 5 which I am 100% fine with.

I don't know. Maybe it could be a nice gesture after making me pay for two different map packs for Reach, only to release a third one I don't want and bundle all of the packs together for specific playlists, meaning I can't play the maps I have purchased unless I fork out for the third pack I don't want.

You're right, 343i should work for free for 2 years providing you with what amounts to the content of Multiple SP campaigns because some other company did something you did not like with map pricing...

No, he's pretty much right. When Bungie was in control of Reach, there was a general way to play each map pack you purchased.

When 343 took over they added Anniversary requirements to everything that had DLC on it, which meant that buying Defiant or Noble was pointless unless you bought the other two packs.

They eventually made it so you didn't need to buy Anniversary to play the DLC list.

I can't play any big team games on Defiant or Noble. :( I can hardly remember that big icy level now.

Whatever the case may be you're an extremely naive/ignorant person if you think anyone should, would, or even COULD possibly make weekly missions with voice actors, in game cinematics, new missions, environments, etc etc etc for 2 years without getting paid.

I mean, that's as asinine as it gets...

Relax buddy, I was joking.

That was my first guess, but were you not serious when you initially said

because that is what I am responding to, and there was no indication of a joke...

(although your response was obviously at least half kidding...)

I still can't believe how good this looks.
I watched the conference through my 360 yesterday with my housemate and we were both really baked. When that ship came through the clouds I literally couldn't believe it. My puny brain thought I was looking at CGI.
Now a day later and I'm no longer stoned but the game still looks stunning.

I'm really gald. No disrespect to Bungie, they made some great games and introduced some fantastic features, but we've finally got a dev that has put so much time and resource into making Halo a showcase of what the 360 can do.

Sony has had Uncharted, Killzone and God of War to showcase what a dedicated team can pull out of the PS3.
Gears has always done the same for 360 but UE3 is a multiplatform engine and we've never seen a MS studio do the same for the 360 hardware.

Finally Halo is getting the graphical treatment it deserves.
Halo is like the Mario/Zelda of Nintendo. It's the big flagship title and it needs to stand out from the crowd. Seeing Halo 4 a few minutes before BLOPS2 really showed off that difference in quality.

Everybody just relax and wait until we see if we have huge open spaced scarab battles ala HALO 3. Until then I'm not willing to say anybody has trumped Bungie if the expansive gameplay has been reigned in.

That battle was in an "arena" too, not really huge open spaced.

Oh man, I've been so busy trying to stay on top of everything.

But yeah, Frankie. This game looks really really good, I've watched the trailer numerous times. I love the new enemy type, how they fight and how they all work together. The general aesthetic is just, really really nice.

Going to watch the trailer again.

343 said this will have the most expansive/largest battles in the series yet.

I believe them.

lol, i remember this..so chickenshit! 343:"you really need to go buy Halo:Redo"

I haven't read the books, but I'm pretty sure Promethians are not forerunners.
Prometheans are a type of Forerunner. Warrior class.
Basically all of Sierra 117 was like that. Beautiful jungle with gorgeous, lush, organic... hallways. Definitely not the best Halo level, but still fun.
Sierra 117, while having what you can describe as "outside corridors," had plenty of wide, open combat scenarios like the last part of the level and when Johnson's pelican gets hit.
Nearly every single level in H2 was forgettable, so who can blame him?
Delta Halo, Regret, Gravemind, Uprising, The Great Journey, Outskirts, Quarantine Zone, and Metropolis.

I'm assuming that after chief says "same place we are" and before chief walks up and cortana says "these covenant aren't messing around" that there was a bunch of gameplay (minor skirmishes with covenant or just plain old walking around) removed for the interest of time

Just felt a tad disjointed... And he kinda appeared a couple km down the road

This was a question I was about to ask.

You can replay them whenever you want, online or offline, singleplayer or co-op.

And this answer, if true, is making me feel so hyped for this game right now. I was worried that I might miss out on some Spartan Ops content but this sounds just great.

Edit:

I forgot to say thank you to Blimblim and gamersyde for providing HD gameplay videos. You guys are great.

Seems like there's a whole level in between those two scenes to me, considering he goes from a wasteland to a dense jungle in a split second.

This is the Halo game that I've always wanted. I've been down on the Halo franchise since Halo 2 ruined the narrative for me, but 4 is what I though 3 would look like, and what I thought I'd be playing at the dawn of this particular generation. Such a shame that Bungie couldn't produce this level of quality.

Just got a chance to watch the direct footage, holy shit, that really looked like CG before the transition to gameplay. The lighting is beautiful.
