[MS-Conf] The Halo 4 E3 Campaign Reveal

I'm 99 % sure that was an excerpt from this exact digital series. They said numerous times that the production value for that thing was ridiculously high. Also, that it would introduce characters that appear ingame. Which would in this case be the captain.
To be fair, that's what sealed the LE deal for me.

(Frankie, if you somehow read this, make it a download please, NO MORE STREAMING, that Reach bonus was painful)

The things you list are a very good selection, but I also recommend reading Glasslands and the upcoming Thursday War book. And, well, reading Ghosts of Onyx even before that would certainly make it a bit easier for you to understand since Glasslands pretty much picks up right after that, in a way. Glasslands is also the first book to take place after the events of Halo 3.

Ghosts of Onyx is a great, great book. As Navidson said, start there. Then read Glasslands and the Forerunner trilogy. Except only 2 of the 3 are out currently. The the third doesn't land until after Halo 4, I believe.

Might as well post these here.

Some stuff I capped:

Got to play this yesterday with some of the halogaf folks.

It looks flipping incredible, first of all. Easily a major step above reach. The fidelity of the characters, the weapons, the backdrops had me almost standing still for a moment just to take it in. At least, that'll be my excuse for losing the match. I love their new approach to the art style. Evolutionary beyond reach, and the lighting and shadow is spectacular.

But I have to say one thing that probably stood out even more was the fidelity of the sound--the gunshots, the explostions, the slugs hitting you when someone is laying into you with the BR, down to the sound of your armor flexing when you break into a run--was incredible! The foley is easily the best of the series.

This is consistent with everyone who's played the game - that the sound in the direct-feed clips is nothing compared to the sound that people playing hands-on are experiencing - love it.

Well, Microsoft has already started their marketing blitz. 60 second TV advert based on the trailer just shown during the England vs France Euro 2012 game. Only five months early!

Title of the video "featuring live action master chief"

I saw that but the lighting on the AR didn't look live action. Maybe partially CG, then.

At any rate, ITV are expecting ~ 10.3million people to be watching this match so this ad will be a pretty big deal.

Goosebumps man goosebumps.
My goodness this is going to be 360's Swan Song.

Will all the stuff 343 are promising, the wait for the next-gen Halo is going to be ridiculous. If they manage all the Spartan-Ops stuff they talked about, I will be playing it for a long time. Now tell me more Forge stuff damn you!

Well, let's wait to see what Bungie's got cooking first ;)

As much as I love Bungie, I am kinda glad 343i got their hands on it since they seem to be taking it in a fresh direction. I cannot wait to see what Bungie have next because they are a talented team.

Honestly... Not expecting much visually from Bungie. I love Bungie, but they've never really been a graphical powerhouse. (art style =/= graphics). Bungie is more about innovation and gameplay. Not visual prowess.

Actually yes they have, just people are unable or do not care to notice.

Halo fiction implies Spartans move in their armor as if it weights nothing, like it is a second skin. IMO it the live action ad was fine for this reason.

Sure, but why would parts of the armor waggle like lightweight plastic, indepentend of their mvoement, that's what I mean. Anyway, too much nitpicking, love those ads.

After seeing the Final Fantasy demo, imagining a Halo game with that level of fidelity makes me get the shakes.

Holy Shit is 2014/15 going to be amazing for games.

I think we can all agree that Halo 4 should have been a next-gen launch game. That would have been the epic new start the franchise deserves.

And to make clear, Halo is by far the greatest shooter franchise on console.

I hate it when people say this, both Halo 1 and 2 were both visually spectacular, even from a technical standpoint.

I don't think there is an FPS game engine that offers the same feature set as the one Bungie created for the Halo game and that's before you even see what it's capable of doing.

Yes that's exactly what I mean. Now that 343 has Halo and Bungie isn't under obligations to MS they can finally do something new and interesting like what they created with halo 1. They have the potential to make something as grand as the Halo series all over again.

Never said anything about visuals. To say anything about it would be conjecture.
