MS has spent >$47m, Sony >$30m on advertising, PS4 ads > XB1 ads in online actions

A colorful game is not necessarily cartoony, and vice versa. And "arcadey" is a gameplay descriptor.

That said, I think the initial dismissal of SO as being not an anomaly according to one poster, stems from bitterness that Insomniac Games jumped ship to XB. What else could possibly motivate someone to downplay something positive about an XBO game?

Gotta say, I have a lot of bitterness towards Insomniac over Sunset Overdrive. Not because it's Xbox exclusive or anything like that. Just because they waited until they stopped being Sony exclusive before they started making good games.

Last gen, that is. Old Spyro + Old Ratchet and Clank were the shiznitz.

WTH. Resistance: Fall of Man and 3 were great games, just not great sellers.

Maybe if they spent more money designing/manufacturing a better console the word of mouth would have been in their favor (DRM and lack of raw power was very bad word of mouth for them) and they wouldn't have had to spend more money for less efficient advertising.

But then again, Microsoft usually do this with all of their products. Throw money at extraneous aspects of it without improving the fundamental product. I mean I have a tong of their products including the Xbone, but still, if they were a more efficient and forward thinking company they would totally devastate the market.

I'd be interested in seeing how this changes over time as MS gets their act together. Their marketing hasn't really been much better since though, that just seems business as usual.

I feel this statement can apply not only to console makers, but game publishers. If we saw the ad money go into fixing server issues of DriveClub or making Battlefield 4 stable, then maybe gamers would be happier. Back in the past games really did not need commercials, but they were neat when it appeared.

Edit: Like Minecraft never got a TV commercial

Couldn't really enjoy them. As with many things, what I said was a subjective statement.
Apologise if it came off too strong.

Apart from old Spyro and Ratchet being great. That's pretty much objective.
