So huge, in fact, one would wonder "why do i see such a big difference, since the pics are barely SD size ?". I mean...there's no way you could see a difference between a 480p and a 720p source, in a 620x450something picture...and you probably noticed there's a huge difference in colours and contrast too; which has obviously nothing to do with the source being SD or HD.
So i investigated further and noticed for some reason, the tv speaker is also much sharper in the hd example...
Sharpening pics and adjusting contrast to make the hd dvd look better...oh, the things teamxbox guys would do...
racerx77 said:It is true those pictures were altered, but there still is that big a difference at LEAST. I have both the SD and HD-DVD (toshiba HD-A1)- It truly is night and day.
Thanks. I might give that a shot if any of the CC's here in town get them in stock. I'm still waiting on my Amazon order. *impatiently taps foot*Alcibiades said:add-on for $159 at circuit city? YMMV

Apparantly, some people have had luck with a printed coupon getting $40 off... that's f*cking crazy... I already have an HD-A1, but since I don't have an Xbox 360 I'm not gonna shoot for this add-on for now...

kinda worried
It has it's own power source. It's hooked up via usb.Warm Machine said:Can anyone answer this question for me...
How is the HD-DVD player hooked up to the 360? Does it need its own power source as well or does it simply get its power through the 360?
f@luS said:well but its supposed to be a HD DVD trailer , not a HD trailer , its for promotional use so i though it was almost the same quality
Not possible. There's a hack to upscale DVDs. That's it.btrboyev said:I was just reading somewhere there is a hack to get the xbox hd-dvd drive to run on a computer...any truth to this?

Even though Im "teh bias" when it comes to this, the movie does not have crappy resizing artifactsjett said:For the Batman Begins HD-DVD owners, is the quality of the transfer this good?

Esp. for Batman Begins and Superman Returns. Shit, I guess if I have this and a PS3 I can ignore the format wars?
My 1080p set arrives tomorrow. I don't know what to do. =(

Well, if you take sex and drugs out of the equation I think that getting crushed by a 65" TV while in a hot tub is pretty much the best way to go.krypt0nian said:Hell my old 65" 720p/1080i set is going in the hot tub room so none for you.

I would get it now just to be safe!jjasper said:I have a question. Does anyone know how long the remote and King Kong will be backed in. My gf told me she would get the player for my Christmas present and I would probably buy KK and the remote as well. Should I tell her to buy it now or would she be ok waiting until closer to Christmas?
DVDTOWN said:I'm guessing that Microsoft is somehow converting the data to the Dolby Digital datastream and that a majority of the improved sound resolution is making its way to the receiver. This somewhat waters down the statement that the Xbox 360 is handicapped by not fully providing Dolby TrueHD, but it is indeed doing something. DTS seems to be converted to Dolby Digital as well, as selecting DTS on "Æon Flux" resulted in the DTS mix being displayed as Dolby Digital on my receiver. Still, comparing the DTS mix to the Dolby Digital mix exhibited that there was a slight audible difference. At this point, I'm willing to bet that Microsoft converts either DTS or TrueHD to a Dolby Digital datastream before shipping it out the optical cable. Sound is very good from the unit and I was surprised at the TrueHD handling, but I still give a slight nod to the Toshiba, but this shows that the Xbox 360 is a very capable unit, even with lesser connections.
