Or is it just one of Phil's balls in my throat?

$140 more for 5080
$380 more for 5090

It's Chinese new year. Just wait a few weeks. At worst a couple of months.

Once prices are raised they will never go back down, both the 3000's and 4090 both stayed at their increased prices for their entire shelf life (or increased further). There's never going to be a surplus of these sitting on shelves that would necessitate it. It's pretty clear that Nvidia's using 99% of their wafers on AI chips.

And this is why I am not mainly a PC gamer. Even if I wanted to spend stupid money on these cards, I still could not find one.
PC gaming is cooked if this crap keeps up. Even if PS6 is $1000, it's a better value proposition than this. At that point a RTX 8090 will cost what? $4000-$6000?
Nah fam.......I'd rather take my family on vacation.

The upcoming amd apu's with the "big" gpu onboard might shake things up a bit. It's not really the same as being able to change your graphics card, but the apu is one reason consoles are affordable. Hopefully you'll be able to get an apu that is comparable to a ps5 for a good price. Its no "pcmr" lifestyle but should bring the entry price for pc gaming back down a bit.

PC gaming is doing very, very good.
These top GPU's is just for a few % of the users, and most of them won't care about paying a few hundred more.

A PS6 at 1000 bucks would be a lot more damaging to the industry than the highest end GPU costing lots of money.

But yeah, it would of course be nice to see lower prices.
Thankfully for me, I managed to order a MSI 5090 before this price increase.

Don't see the issue with the price. PC dudes going on about how much money they save gaming on PC. Well then just use some of that savings to buy a new card...or don't.

4090/5090 is for people that don't need to save money on anything.

Now that 5080 price is fucking ridiculous, lol.

Can we get over it as fast as it happened with Ada and scalpers were left with stock and had to sell at MSRP?

Who is that impatient to buy at these prices.

Video card trade in program and UBE (universal basic entertainment)...problem solved!

Of course the games will be complete and utter garbage. I guess though, if you are still using a 20x card and an i5 well...anything...you are accustomed to refuse so you will be happy!

It's called an enthusist card for a reason. Some of us have real careers and can afford to buy expensive stuff for things we enjoy.

We found the triggered elitist who thinks they're better than other people because money. I have a real career, I can afford things, and I still find the concept of "enthusiast prices" to be nothing more than the same old elitist corpo agenda aimed at fools who are easily parted from their money.

Not triggered at all and certainly not an elitist. Console gamers come here to rip on PC gamers but you can't handle the heat when we fire back. Why are you even here if you have no interest in PC gaming. There are plenty of console threads.

My budget is for a 2500USD card and the Gigabytes that I'm looking at still fit that budget. I had the MSI Suprim water one for 2500 but that went up to almost 2800.

One way to beat the scalpers is to just beat them to the punch and scalp your own products. So glad I’m not trying to get one of these.
Exactly. Most people won't like this truth but if your product/service is selling out the moment it's available you aren't charging nearly enough money for it.

There should be a system of price tiers that come down every week for the first month the product is available before settling in at a final MSRP. Pre-order/launch pricing tier is much higher for the first week and I'd bet the scalping problem would be fixed. Your hardcore fanbase who are already paying extra still get the item but now the company would get that extra money, as they should, instead of some garbage-tier human (scalpers).

Scalpers are nothing more than rent-seekers providing absolutely nothing of value to the world and I think the only way to get rid of them is by taking away their market. If the 5090 MSRP were 7.5k (or whatever the magic number is) for the first week then nobody would be scalping that because you probably don't have enough people willing to pay that price day one.

Yeah, earlier last year. Regretting it now. I have a 4070 Super now which is fine.

At this point everyone would be wise to just hold on to what they have until the 60XX series.

I thought it was bad during covid and the 40 series launch, but somehow, once everything is taken in to account, this is worse than both. The whole situation stinks.

Nvidia will be the company most credited with PC Gaming's proliferation pre-and post-pandemic...and then its eventual demise.

A total fucking trainwreck. I was able to snag two 4090s for my systems at launch. Of course, that was a card I actually wanted.

Sold mine to get a gaming laptop (to use for travel) which I ended up not liking. Thankfully I was able to get what I paid for it and I used the difference between the cost of the 4080 and 4070 Super to fund part of my system upgrade. I bought the 4070 Super in December thinking I can return it if 5070 turns out to be a better deal, but yes, you are correct, sticking with what I have and skipping this nonsense.
