Fuck this shit, it's getting worse instead of better. I'll upgrade in 2024 at this point. Thank God I got that PS5.

My suspicion is that these prices are not permanent, and are a result of the pandemic. While I'm sure NVidia would absolutely love to charge insanely extortionate prices for their flagship GPU's on an ongoing basis, the reality is that these costs are more than the consumer gaming market will bear in any long term sense. There are two outcomes - this is a temporary aberration that they are capitalising on and prices will eventually settle back down, or this is AMD's moment to seize control of the gaming GPU market.

What is this in USD for reference? Or conversely what is the price of the 3080 and 3090? Or you could have put "UK" in the title.

Amd upped there prices by more then 2x with this gen on cpu / gpu front.

AMD will follow nvidia's suit pretty easily.

Maybe. Again, it will all depend on what the market can bear. There seems to be an assumption that as prices escalate, people will simply pay them because they are so desperate for the hardware. I'm not so sure that's actually the case, especially in our current circumstances. Do you really think that once you hit five grand for a reasonable PC build, software and hardware sales won't tank? They're testing the market to see what they can get away with.

With china joining the PC gaming market, and there is heavy competition on the chip manufacturer from getting its spots for chips. i could see a permanent increase. Also i don't think bitcoins will go away anytime soon specially in europe. more and more people want to ditch there money away from the goverment and that will only increase its demand.

I could see the gpu market being royally fucked for a few years to come and the west having more and more problems getting stock.

LOL let me know what you are smoking how can GPU with less SM then 3090 be 15% faster? at best might match it if its clocked higher but with half the Vram and no NVlink. Its 3080ti for a reason and not 3090ti.
You may be right. But wasn't the 2080Ti a little stronger than the Titan? If it's even, then even worse. I got the 3090 so I"m good.

Fuck off AIBs

If they're gonna scalp from the source, I'll sit this one out. Managed to score a 3060. Got enough games to play through at near max settings at Ultrawide 1440p for years.

I've already spent ~3500$ on my PC sans GPU, which was my original target budget, I am not keen on spending 2+k for a gpu. I guess 1-1.2kish, which is still stupid of me, but I can tolerate that, especially as I have been buying parts for ~8-10 months now.

I just hope my 1060 lasts 'til something comes along that I can accept...and that it comes along before I move what I can accept up yet again. Maybe I should try a queue, though that will be interesting as I don't have any kind of phone (not a joke, I don't want one and I usually don't need one).

RTX 3080 Ti is 1299, probably Founders. Fuck it. If I want a GPU I need to do what needs to be done. Funds ready, time off from work ready. I'm going to Microcenter and camp. I've never done any shit like this before, so this could be fun and pathetic. It is what it is.

I'm never going to upgrade from my crappy 1060.....haha. Between the availability and these insane fucking prices. Oh well, consoles will keep me until I can get a decent card for under 1k. Could be a couple of years......

You paid 100% more for an average 20% performance uplift.

..That's not smart, its the very fucking definition of dumb.

Some of us are quite thrilled to have a 3090 at or near MSRP

Some of us want every last frame we can get

I feel quite fortunate to have one in my main gaming PC and will happily take 20% extra power for now because for some of us an extra $1000 is not a huge deal to get what we want

Good pricing!

Thankfully I got a 3080 in November. I have the feeling it's going to last longer than expected...

So do we know the main differences between this card and a 3080 and 90 for comparison sake? I have a nice gigabyte vision 3090 so I'm not exactly feeling like this would be a major upgrade. But it's good to see and know what we are looking at as far as RT/CUDA cores.

Upgrade? 3080ti for you would be downgrade:

Actually going by benches from today 3080ti is around 3% slower then 3090 which is to be expected going by amount of missing cuda cores and SMs, Titan was on founder edition cooler vs Custom AIB 2080ti but Titan on Custom loop is still faster then any 2080ti card regardless.

Hardware deficit can be beat with higher clocks if they are close enough (spec wise) but both overclocked/similarly cooled higher specked GPU will always win.

Is the retail higher because it seems close but not worth the exorbitant price.

I’ll be waiting to see how many big titles decide to support robust modding. If a lot of them will allow gamers to apply mods to elder scrolls’ level then I’ll get it.

I think it's actually even less than that on average (assuming we're talking vs an msrp 3080). But yeah, basically Nvidia conned us all again. AMD isn't any better (at least on the desktop side--interesting things coming from the 6800M laptop chip though).

Here's me sat with a 3080 Strix OC that with the system at parts cost was £750 and feeling like I got shafted.... well not anymore LOL.

Well benchmarks are out.... and there is no reason for it to exist lol
In an ideal world maybe miners will not be bothered with 3080 Ti and more people can buy it. Price is still butchered though. No way this isn't going for $3000 at least in my country.

even at its MSRP its absurd. At least the 3090 had practicle uses in the creative industry with its large amount of vram. The 3080ti is the worst value prop I've ever seen in a gaming GPU, its titan levels of absurdity. You are paying like $200+ per % increase over a standard 3080. The 3090 was also a very bad value, but like I said, at least it wasnt really ever a gaming card, I think most of us treated it like a super low cost Quadro card

If people will buy at scalping price then why not make it scalping price?
PC glory days have definitely came and went.

I guess my Series X and Ps5 will be my main gaming stations for the foreseeable future. I wanted to build a PC but between these prices and stock levels- lol nope.
