Multiple publishers ‘ready to delay their games’ to avoid GTA 6 onslaught, it’s claimed

I know people love these games but I'll never be able to wrap my head around the absolute sales-mageddon and utter frenzy GTA achieves. It somehow consistently takes me by surprise.

$ 100 Base price.

Or $70 Story Mode, $30 online ?

Since the word out is it will be the first 100 dollar game.
A near 50% price increase would be far too high to not damage sales. For the sequel to a game that grossed billions from microtransactions alone the entry price needs to not be a barrier. I'd be less surprised to see it F2P than $100.

I’m joking!

I understand it isn’t for everyone, but this game is going to literally break all records and probably expectations of what a video game can be. Just still looking at RDR2, it’s arguably the most alive world we have ever seen and is still one of the most beautiful games I have ever seen. I’m in day one for GTA6, it’s a once in a generation (or fucking two at this point) game.

Honestly, it wouldn't surprise me if these publishers knew what Take Two's plans are regarding the pricing of GTAVI. I think this has less to do with GTA being a juggernaut and more to do with them giving Take Two leeway to release a possible $80-$100 game with little competition. That way they can use the sales to justify raising game prices again.

100% games will be £80/$80 next gen guaranteed.

GTA 6 is gonna suck a lot of free time out of the market for a good 3-6 months before a lot of people might start to fancy something a bit different.

Just a reminder, if GTA6 comes out this year the PS5 Pro is gonna benefit greatly. Game probably won't launch day and date on PC so it will be a big boon for Sony and especially the Pro.

If you hate Sony or the PS5 Pro you should be hoping for a delay.

Considering GTA V has been the best selling game for a few years in a row, this decision —IF there's any truth in it— would be as dumb as it can get. It's understandable not to release the same week, but delaying a game for more than one month because of fucking GTA is full retard territory.
