Tom Henderson believes GTA 6 will be delayed again to October 2026

RDR2 had 2 delays. Originally was going to be released fall of 2017 and ended up releasing October 2018. And that happened with 2 delays as well.
Yup, I know. But GTA has already received a specific release date, not that this means it can't easily get delayed again. But I see people on X holding out hope that because it has a specific release date they wouldn't delay it anymore. Which is just foolish.

Tricky, first Magnus is likely 6 months or more past this, and second, it's not going to be trivial to bring it to Magnus if they have built it for the X|S. Then there is the fact that R* target install bases, I cant see them breaking their backs to support someone else's launch. (Incl. PS6.)
AMD CEO confirmed Console library BC for Magnus and the rest of the Xbox portfolio. So GTA6 will be running best on Magnus hardware until official PC release.
Is Magnus going to cost $900?
Probably. At least $799. I am expecting Magnus AT3 (S SKU) at $549, and Magnus AT2 (X SKU) at $799. And OEM variants with higher storage, ram, clocks, at $100-$200 more than the MS baseline.

And Xbox PC with Magnus AT2 starting at $1200. Ones with Magnus AT1, up to $2k.

Yeah that makes no sense

Both V and RDR2 were delayed and then released once they got a specific date so it's not absurd to huff some hopium because of that.
But IV for example had a specific date and was delayed nonetheless so I agree, it's pretty meaningless.

To be honest, it should probably be delayed to next gen, but it won't because Rockstar knows millions will double dip and they don't care if it runs poorly on current gen. This will become apparent when their PS5 Pro support will be minimal I bet.

Henderson has good sources, but his just guessing right now it's gonna be october release.

Doesn't look like he has a source that can't 100% corraborate a delay. But wouldn't be surprised.

Most reliable source we have on when next xbox could come out is keplar and even he has indicated it is more likely a 2027 release.

So ps5 pro will be the best place to play if it releases around that time, on launch atleast.

Not like it matters anyway, most people will be buying this on playstation.

I actually hope this game underperforms now.

Not because I've got it out against the game or Rockstar, but because so many analysts and investors have been staking SOOO much money on this game being the second coming of Jesus to boost industry sales and revenue. And I think it's absolutely dangerous to hedge so much on a single AAA game with well over $1 billion spent in budget.

It's unsustainable. The current Western AAA market is completely unsustainable, and it's time something major happened to cause a major fallout so a culling can be done and things reset back to a sustainable level. GTA6 notably underperforming would be a great catalyst for that happening.

Tho, "underperforming" in no way means selling badly. I think it's still gonna break records for most copies sold at launch for any game ever. I just think there's a good chance the sales after the launch period slow down faster than many would expect or want to happen.

Then aren't you also saying you hope GTA6 just isn't as good of a game as expected? Because the $1 billion development of this game is 100% very warranted. If COD games can cost over $500 million a piece, GTA6 has to be at least $1 billion.

Even though GTA is one of my favorite series of all time, if they delay it again I'm going to skip the game and wait for some kind of NextGen enhanced version.

The only reason this game is taking so long to begin with is their greedy online mode that they prioritize over everything else.

My back log is extreme, people always comment about how big my log is.

It's honestly rather depressing when you look at how many years it's been since GTA V. Oh man how I miss the days that Rockstar graced us with a new game almost every year during the PS360 generation.

The world has changed greatly since the story/game was planned out, I wouldn't be surprised if they're using this time to scrub story lines to a less woke reality.

Could be wrong, but so many of the people that made GTA what it was have left the company.

Yeah .. I'll definitely be playing the "next" gen of this game .. no point whatsoever and ruin the experience with 30fps on this weak consoles since will be launched basically at the end of the gen already.

Also, seeing as this news is a few days old, after Tom saying that, Luke Stephens (whom I don't really trust tbh) has said this

So there are conflicting reports. Some people saying it won't be delayed, others saying it'll be the end of 2026, others saying it won't even make it next year.

I think in November we'll know better, the next earnings call after that is in February, that is probably a bit too close to the supposed release to then delay it again in terms of investor trust and all that. We'll see.

Hot take: they are waiting until next-gen releases because the PS5 and Series X run it at sub-20 fps. The Pro maybe slightly better. Will still be a cross-gen release but all the marketing will try to push people to get it on PS6/Xbox whatever it will be called.
