I don't get why Lil Wayne is worshiped by the masses.
Help me out here bro, what is the best metal song of the past 5 years? I promise to listen to it very loud and not be a dick until it's finished.
pls don't kill Rosenstock :C
Why, you don't mean Eugen Rosenstock-Huessy, Historian and famed Social Philosopher, do you...? He's an awful trumpet player. Plus, he's already dead so it wouldn't make much of a difference.
Jeff Rosenstock, silly. Granted he has moved away from ska, but ASOB and early BTMI were great despite the ska and I genuinely think he's one of the most interesting people in music.
even Eminem is mediocre these days.
The thing that really bugs me is the endless sub-genres made by people desperate to stand out or seem different then the other 300 bands doing the same thing as them.
Categorising yourself shouldn't matter.
Kelis.....I don't think she makes music with a plan. Writes lyrics...gets a beat and then sings the lyrics as contrary to the music as she possibly can. I think she has talent though...which makes it worse when I hear it. CAN NOT STAND MILKSHAKE.
I love Homework but this track is hot garbage.I don't think Daft Punk is exceptionally consistent with their quality, but they have a lot of songs that sound like songs and are fun to listen to.
Rollin' and Scratchin' though
Admittedly, I've never listened to the whole track that I can recall. Maybe it gets better. idk. There was another track just like it from the same album. Can't remember which was worse.
All the colours in the rainbow in metal, of course. It's SO DIVERSE.
Fitter Happier is also hot garbage.

I love OK computer but Fitter Happier is also hot garbage.
That's not what I'm saying, and most genres have an emotional centerpoint somewhere. I just object to the assertion that metal always angry. I listen to a good bit of metal and I'm not angry very often, and when I am I actually don't listen to metal. First artist that came to my mind right now is Yngwie Malmsteen, say whatever you will about him but I can't think of any angry songs he's written. Ok, that's still heavy metal I suppose, but even the more extreme stuff isn't necessarily angry. There's a lot of black metal that tries to evoke a sense of nature, there's nothing angry about it and personally I find it relaxing (they tend to be less about melody and more about creating a mood, it's probably too repetitive for a lot of people). Example and example (this song is quite melancholic to my ears.)
Meat, what genre is Punching Swans? Still LOVE that shit.
alternative blood eagle body salad fish garage rock loose meat math rock noise rock now i'm hungry and nauseous post-punk punk tagging is for lief whatever United Kingdom
Haha! Awesome, I'll let them know. I dunno, I think they call themselves "Disco-Punk" or summink. The tags they use on bandcamp are as follows:
Man, we need to arrange a gig and get them on the bill too.
What exactly is "grime" music? This is just some dude rapping as far as I can tell. Honest question.
Urban Dictionary
It's like gangsta rap, except over minimalist, drum & bass / dub / dancehall music.
Fucking. Horrible. The worst music out there at the moment, in my opinion.
Check out Kvelertak.
Us youse and them? I would wear frilly pants just so I could piss them.
Also, just one word: trap. Can't stand it, or anything influenced by it.
Probably one of the most influential acts of popular electronic music since Kraftwerk. They were the ones to introduce sampling in house music (the whole filter house movement in the early 00s stemmed from them), among other things.
Furthermore, they change their sound from album to album in an effort not to "repeat " themselves (as they often said in interviews), so it's not really hard to see the appeal.
What's trap?
I abhor jazz and blues. They work well as influences to other styles, but as standalones sound terrible to. Jazz for being too show-offy and blues for being boring as fuck.
What? Sampling in house music was around way before Daft Punk
I don't understand dubstep, it sounds like music designed to appeal to a 56k modem.
This thread is more for venting than defending, but just know that I'm giving you a nasty glare right now.
Daft Punk is kind of weird. The large majority of their material is pretty clearly mediocre, but they've got just enough good songs that I can't outright dismiss them (their best work is Discovery, which has 4 good songs). They're expert marketers though, I'll give them that.
Dooood, Torche are rad
On the topic of ska, don't throw all of it under the bus pls. Streetlight Manifesto and anything with Jeff Rosenstock are great.

I'm sorry, but I cannot stand death metal. I understand those who listen to it may find more but all I hear is screaming and yelling.
Also, some strains of jazz. It's just boring, though I do admire and hope to acquire the technical skill needed to play it one day.
I like all genres of music, but some things that make a bad song are universal and carry through all music:
Uninspired, regurgitated lyrics with no thought behind them.
Sterile mixing and producing.
Unoriginality.
Lack of passion, in other words the song is just built from blocks that are expected to work without any real vision or purpose other than profit.
Metal is the genre I once listened to almost exclusively and now I've realised I cannot tolerate it at all. Most of it is just empty, technical noise.
There's lots of jazz that isn't show-offy.

Next you're gonna tell me Radiohead didn't invent electronic music!
u wot m8?Just like Bach!
