Madoka - One of the biggest surprise in 2011, got me back into anime after a very long break. Don't let the cover fool you.
Fate/Zero
Yu Yu Hakusho - Basically Naruto and Bleach in the 90s, except this show doesn't drag it out too long, just the right length.
Cowboy Bebop
Nadesico
Steins;Gate - Best time travel anime in a long time, very slow start, but the second half is jaw dropping.

"Ctrl-F 'Honneamise'" = no results. This is an atrocity. And no, it being in the NeoGAF poll is no recommendation, that means nothing without reasons why one should watch it.

Royal Space Force is only of the most distinctive and ambitious anime movies out there. Everyone ought to give it a go—if I told you it was Gainax's first studio production, would you budge?

Even though pretty basic on plot, I would say that Record of Lodoss War (both versions) is a pretty fun watch.

Watching Paprika right now, only 15 mins in but wow.
The animation and style are amazing, up to the same level as ghibli stuff.

Seems like a really cool concept too.

When I want to recommend a rushed, heartless cash grab with poor animation, bland, grey lighting, rushed manga arcs, and badly drawn characters frame-by-frame I'll recommend Brotherhood.

Also background art that looks like crayon with a bad digital filter and background people that are literally grey blobs with outlines.

You lose me in building your world when the people walking around in the background are non-animated grey blobs that stand stock still as the main characters are animated normally.
