Must watch anime?

And make sure you don't watch that original TV Hellsing by mistake. It was ok, but talk about butchering an incredible story. "Let's take maybe the best villians of any story ever, and replace them with some guy from Africa."

Reminds me of full metal alchemist and the much better full metal Brotherhood. I don't understand why they make these things based on an established work, rip out the best parts and replace them with garbage.

I don't get the love for Evangelion. I only watched the movies but the latest one was just ridiculous. I actually enjoyed the first 2 but after the third one, I'm just not liking the direction its going and feel no reason to bother watching the tv series.

The reboot movies are extremely divergent from the show. Especially the third movie which was an insane wild curve ball.

The second half is easily one of the worst sequences of anime I have watched.

Not everything is bad or good to me, nor is that the case for all the other people who happen to use the internet. Why do a select few knuckle heads like you have to think it's the internet vs them in terms of opinions?

Why not tell us why the second half was good instead of complaining about an individuals opinion and some sort of esoteric issue with the "internet's" opinions.

btw it's still creepy, because she is held as a domestic slave and nearly raped

okay then

Thats your problem.

Evangelion started to get really boring near the end and had a disappointing ending. Probably just wasn't my kind of show. Didn't bother watching all the extra movies they added after, are they worth checking out?

End of Eva is pretty much where shit gets real. I'm not a fan at all (I'm more of a Gurren/Gunbuster/FLCL/etc Gainax fan) but you may like it.

If by "extra movies" you mean the End of Evangelion? That 100% necessary to close out Eva properly.

Go read/watch One Piece. It'll easily become top 5 on your list.

I just finished Sword of the Stranger. I feel like I can confidently say that that should be on any Must Watch list.

I just want to gif that entire film.

I'm not a big anime viewer either but I enjoyed these very much.

-all of the studio ghibli movies : especially totoro (beautiful movie , ghibli has this thing where they portrait nature and children's innocence really well) , grave of the fireflies (soul crushing story based on a real story) , and ponyo I thought were really special.
Their movies are great for all ages, you miss out if you haven't seen them.

I suggest watching 'my neighbour totoro' after and on the same day as grave of the fireflies, as the former will just destroy you, it such a heartbreaking story.

-neon genesis evangelion, I watched this when I was a teenager Idk how much I'd enjoy it today, but when I was 17 I really liked it.

You already watched cowboy bebop which is another series I really enjoyed.

edit: oh also 'little witch academia'

It's free to watch, very light hearted harry potter like and made for younger audience but it's charming and very well animated.

Oh God what have I done. I thought the ending in the anime was the ending...
Looks like I have something to watch now, thanks for the heads up.

You weren't the only person who was pissed. Poor guy got death threats and posts them at the end of the movie to shut people up lol.

Code Geass is the best anime there is.

It surprised me a lot. Adult swim shows are more miss that hit.
Code Geass is one of my personal all time favorites.

Cowboy Bebop (of course)
Samurai Champloo
Akira (movie, animations are glorious. NO CG?!?!)
Dragon Ball
Death Note
Full Metal Alchemist Brotherhood. and the other one.
FLCL (short :/
Afro Samurai (Very impressive action)

One Piece anime IIRC goes on a 1 episode-1 chapter format which might be a bit slow for some (it's definitely too much for me, especially when I can read more in less time).

Gintama is good, but you have to know what you are getting into.

The first few episodes are there purely to set up the world and the characters and it isn't all that great or funny. But after that it gets really good, it gets better the more you watch it. Besides a few arcs (which aren't all that long) the show is pretty episodic tbh as there is a very loose plot. Since it's quite a large series and its currently on hiatus I'd recommend taking your time with the series. You can watch it for free on Crunchyroll.

Also it's not a full anime but there's Little Witch Academia. It also had some recent kickstarter that got funded in hours and it's getting a second short.

Is Saint Seiya Omega any good?

OP anime isn't worth watching through then?

Don't listen to the crazies who are trying to rob you of a great experience, just go watch & judge it for your self with each episode it just keeps on getting better and better, nothing short of incrediable.

One piece -(starts off very light hearted & slapstic but as the world expands it becomes so much more and many amazing epic & moving momments await you)
Hunter x hunter-a thrilling & clever adventure that will continue to surprise & shock you
Hajime no ippo -the definition of fighting spirt

Are top grade must watch.

No saint seiya omega isn't must watch.

One Piece has a weak start imo.

If you want to get a feel of the anime, I recommend watching One Piece: Episode Of Nami first (summarizes a 13 episode arc into a 2 hour movie).

If you liked it or thought it had interesting elements, then watch from the beginning of the series and know that there are some EPIC (and it actually does live up to that word) moments, stories told in the series, and the series keeps on getting better and grander as it goes on, the action gets better as do the villains (you'll see some really wacky stuff in the beginning that is not really representative of the shows true villains)

Also, if you do watch episode of nami and start watching the series, even though you know what happens, I recommend that you at least watch the fights/scenarios the way they occured in the series. You can forward by the story bits (as they were covered accurately, but some of the fights were either extremely shortened to the point where there was not as much impact, some of them didn't include the best moments, or in general had certain elements left unexplained)

You can also look up the filler list and skip those episodes if you want to.

But yeah, currently on break from One Piece (I prefer to watch entire arcs at once, so I have another 20 weeks or so before this one finishes).

One Piece and Hunter X Hunter (2011) are the ones I'm watching right now and absolutely love.

edit: a lot of the people that call it slow, were probably the ones watching it week by week during the semi-slow parts. I suppose that is also the reason why I wait for entire story arcs to finish before watching the show. Love it, but a week by week show it is not (but you have about 600 episodes before that is even possible for you, LOL). Then again, aside from DBZ (back in the day when I had patience was a youngin), I don't think I had the patience to watch any anime just week by week.

I don't get the love for Evangelion. I only watched the movies but the latest one was just ridiculous. I actually enjoyed the first 2 but after the third one, I'm just not liking the direction its going and feel no reason to bother watching the tv series.

You make me sick.

I finished the show like, 4 days ago. Go watch that. The movies are rubbish.

Trying to get into some anime and I'm looking for the absolute best.

I've already watched/am watching Naruto, Trigun, FMA, Death Note, Samurai Champloo, Gurren Lagaan, Sword Art Online, Attack on Titan, Cowboy Bebop.

Those are the kind of animes I like but I'm open to anything that isn't creepy.

And are One Piece and DBZ worth starting?

Thanks!

Steins;Gate = #2 anime of all time
Higurashi No Naku =#1 anime of all time

If I was just getting into anime and someone recommended Sword Art Online, Guilty Crown, Angel Beats, or Fairy Tail to me...I think I would just quit watching for good.

What's the best way to watch One Piece?

Sub from episode 1 (skip fillers using a list if you want some are good even the weakest ones aren't naruto filler bad )

The funi dub is good but the preformance by the original cast transcendes language barriers.

What's the best way to watch One Piece?

Well it doesn't really matter. Funi's dub is pretty good, but you can't go wrong with subs either. Although after a point it's just painful to watch One Piece because the chapter per episode ratio flatlines to a whopping 1 per episode.
