My .50cal exploded in my face

Tbf that 1 time can be fatal, most other guns are less likely to be fatal, most dont shoot a hockey puck of steel at 75000psi into your face on failure

Designing things to fail right is a moral imperative. Sometimes in products you see an obvious weak spot, most of the time is because that’s the designated failure point.

I’m sorry for the guy, but if the gun failing sends chunks of metal to your face, it’s not well designed. When I saw in the other guys video that if the puck gets forced out it shears two metal tabs I was speechless.

Heres a great reason why safety glasses work

Dudes lucky

That was utterly nuts.

I love Demo Matt, Brandon Herrera, all the YT gun guys... Kentucky is good too but not a top 5 for me... glad he's ok.

Not sure eye pro would've helped him there (alot... but people should ALWAYS wear eye pro)... when shooting big stuff outside I tend to use it + a scarf... again not sure that would've helped.

ELI5: What do people mean when they calls bullets (or rounds) hot? : explainlikeimfive (reddit.com)

Basically he had a hand-me-down old armor piercing bullet that could shoot through a fire hydrant with too much gunpowder. Ultimately, this was a recipe for disaster.

Yeah people don't understand how dangerous a hot-loaded round can be. Especially surplus (old) ones with iffy casings/primers.

This. The term 'failsafe' literally refers to conditions remaining safe if 'thing' fails. It's why safety lights are supposed to show 'safe mode' by lighting up, so that, if they burn out, the people will continue to be protected.
