I'm going to replace the glass beads (left over from old aquarium) with Ethier white or black stone.
I also plan on ordering some fresh seed in other varieties to try my hand at growing a few from scratch.

That's wild mate! I love bonsai~ I've got a kuromatsu (black pine) goyomatsu (5 needle white pine) and I'm trying to germinate a wysteria seed and a momiji (Japanese maple) seed~ love these things.. with any luck I'll love them for 70 odd more years lol~

My goyomatsu is actually two young trees which sort of dance around the other, your one looked pretty familiar in that sense~ but i think my ones are very slow growing compared to indoor types.
