Has this happened to anyone before?:

I shipped off my broken 360 to Microsoft repair center, and then got this message on the tracking number: "The receiver requested a hold for a future delivery date. UPS will attempt delivery on date requested". That was late at night on Thursday and the status hasn't changed since...
I sent mine off over a week ago and it hasn't got to the repair centre.

It's probably due to Easter.

Usual Disclaimer: If I can't tell when your 360 died / was replaced, you aren't included in the figures. That's basically anyone that just posted to say that their 360 died last year some time or they've had x dead 360s and gave no more information. Also, if you posted to say your 360 was acting up and never came back to confirm its death / shipment / getting a new one... you aren't included either.

Don't forget that NPD US numbers are simply included to give a rough idea of how many 360s are out there for each particular month.

In the figures so far are 1349 dead / replaced 360s, 44 of which were falcon models.

Be prepared for the E74 error.

This is exactly how mine died.
Same here. I was just starting Lost Odyssey and I thought it was the disc. When I popped in another game and it did the same thing, that's when I knew something was wrong... Turned the system off and back on again and I got the E74 error. Glad Microsoft is fixing that now. I'm a broke college student so my 360 has been sitting here broken for a month and a half now....

Well, I got the email for the shipping label... small problem. Seems they no longer send you a direct link to the tracking label. You must goto their god awful website. So I goto xbox.com login and follow the instructions. Only problem is, it says there are no consoles registered, and the service number doesn't match my zip code. I can't even re-register the system, says its already been registered. :( awful.

i joined the club yesterday with my 20 months old elite.
random crashes while gaming (always after a few minutes) and sometimes a rrod when booting.
do i have to send the hdd too to ms or can i leave it at home?

Don't send the hard drive or any wires. Just send the console itself. My elite just E74'd on me! I called them to get it repaired. =(

Just to report, gotten back a new Jasper Power supply (well I'm not sure whether it's a refurb or new, but no scratches on the plastic, unlike my harddisk casing ...). Anyways so far, the power light has been steadier and I notice when I power off the light on the adapter drops off quicker.

Oh BTW power adapters only have a warranty of 3 months, it's considered a "accessory"
Damn it MS, I can sort of give it to you on the harddisk as an accessory (even when nowadays harddisk have 3-5 year warranties). But the power supply not even having a one year warranty? *facepalm.gif*

So far so good, hope I didn't Jinx myself again :(

Halp.
Not sure if it is my system or just controllers.

My new 3 month old Jasper system won't start.
Basically my controller won't sync with the console & thus not let it turn on. There are no red quadrants at all, just the middle portion is lit up on the console.
I tried hitting the sync buttons on the controller & on the 360, lights on the console & controller start to circle, but in the end the controller just ends up back to blinking after seemingly trying to sync & the console has no ring to show a controller is connected.

I tried with a newly charged battery pack, didn't work. Tried with fresh batteries, didn't work. Tried it wired directly to the 360, didn't work. Tried all those combos with a 2nd extra controller I have, didn't work.

Am I just syncing the controller wrong or does this sound like a system problem?

Most likely your system if non of your controllers aren't syncing.

This happened to me too when I installed the 360 for the first time. But I manage to get my controller sync by putting it really close to the 360. Try to put the controller directly in front of the system, then hit the sync button on the console and/or the controller. After it works for the first time, the problem never occurs again. Good luck.

Bah
fixed it after an hour of googling, found this.

http://www.xboxaddict.com/forums/showthread.php?t=79886

I solved this problem by calling 1-800-4MY-XBOX and talking to one of the higher up's. What I had to do was hold down the sync button on the front of the xbox (with the xbox ON) for 30 seconds, or until the light stops spinning, and turns off. Then I had to turn off the xbox, and unplug the power supply from the xbox, the cord from the power supply, and the cord from the wall, and then remove my hard drive and wait for a minute. Then I hooked everything back up and it worked fine. This works if wireless and wired controllers won't sync up with the xbox 360.

No way in hell I could have guess that was the procedure to get it to work again.
Guess it is a hardware problem, but just needs a hard reset.

My 4 month, one week old Jasper gave me an E66 error An hour ago. It's working fine now, but it's kinda ironic as I just sent in my old Falcon to get it's E74 error repaired.

I wonder if I'm the first person on here to have a Jasper give an legitimate error code?

I was playing Burnout Paradise today, and the game locked up. Tried to reboot it and the infamous RROD showed up. I called Xbox support and they said my xbox was just out of warranty, although I actually bought it in June 2006. They'd still fix it for free, luckily. I have to sent in a photocopy of the invoice and a photo of my serial number to extend the warranty term. The lady on the phone was very friendly, she even gave me one month xbox live gold because I'll have to miss my Xbox for a couple of weeks.

I'm thinking of selling the repaired Xbox 360 and then purchase a new Jasper. That way, I'll have three more years of warranty for the RROD and the E74 error.

I've been getting random E74 errors, and even a RROD now and again since about a year ago, but the system always works fine after a couple restarts, and then plays normally as if no problem. Is that strange, I got the impression once it dies that's it.

That's pretty unusual... this page: http://www.llamma.com/xbox360/repair/Xbox-360-error-codes.htm

Reckons an E66 is this:

E66: DVD Drive Error: DVD model, or version does not match that of the version expected by the dashboard. OR the firmware version on the drive is older then the firmware version expected by the dashboard. Make sure the DVD drive is of the same version originally included with the console and that it is using either the original firmware included with the console or newer.

Yeah I saw that too. It sure as hell ain't that. As my console isn't modded.

Only thing I can think is that I've been getting weird issues with my Gamerpic. I changed it recently and it's either swapped out magically to my girlfriends or some static looking thing. Or the one you can see if you have no Avatar made. My gamertag is on a MU, so maybe it got corrupted. But definitely that error code isn't for my DVD drive, unless there was a stealth update that got fucked up.

You know Microsoft has a problem when I go to the post office and the lady behind the counter already knows what is in the box before I even say a word.

edit: btw, my 360 died last September (original) but I am just now getting it fixed because of the new warranty stuff Microsoft just announced. It was a E 77 error or something. They wanted $100 before to fix it.

That happened to me when I took in my second dead 360 in late-'07. The guy at UPS saw the box and said, "Ah, dead 360?"

Sad.

2nd 0102 error I've had now :( I'm getting a bit tired of this, think I'll just sell it when it gets back and wait until christmas and finally get an elite maybe. First one broke with PES6, this one with PES09... think I'll give PES10 a miss :lol

My 360 hasn't been reading game disks lately. I finally got an RRoD just a while ago. I submitted a repair request online. This thing is such a piece.

So, the day I made this post and requested a coffin the SOB's at MS still haven't sent me a box. I live in Houston and one of their main distribution centers is just 300 miles away. WTMF??!!!!! >:^(

Do you have a harddisk? I would suggest copy over your accounts and everything onto the harddisk and format the memory unit. See whether that helps.

Good luck, hope you get that new hard drive. I wouldn't hold my breath on customer service calling you back, but hopefully.

yep they still have not called me back. sat i called again and the lady on the phone was way helpful and could not figure out (or so she said) why they had not called me back.

i was told again that i would have to wait for a return call 24-48 hours this time and a tier 3.

of course it's going on day 4 and still no call back yet again!

u'd think they would float ya a part that cost them nothing to keep you spending 1000's a year on games on their system. specially when you expired warranty 14 days before their product broke for no reason.

Welp, I was playing some Guitar Hero: Metallica online today and it froze in the middle of a song...restart, played another song, froze again. Started up and it froze at the logo. One more time and:

FUCK! I have a Zephyr bought right around the Halo 3 launch, first time I've had any trouble with it. Just requested my first coffin...

Goddammit.

Well I got my Falcon back today, same serial number as the one I sent away. I'm not confident they did anything other than towelling it and send it back. I'll be really pissed if it RROD's again. At least I have a Jasper as backup I suppose.

My Xenon from Feb 2007 finally died today. RROD. I guess it's my fault for playing it in 90 degree weather.

Oh well, I just recently bought a Japanese Jasper, so I'm not set back too much.

Edit: I can't believe I let my 360 die while playing CoD:WaW. :( Worst game I've played this gen (single player).

So I toweled mine yesterday and it's been working since...my coffin's due to arrive tomorrow, what're the chances of them just sending it right back to me when it doesn't RROD on them? Now I dunno what to do.

The chances are zero because you are going to get it to RRoD before you send it in?

I got the coffin for my 360. However, I couldn't wait anymore. I went ahead and bought a 360 Arcade unit. Made sure it was a Jasper (Build date 1-29-2009 with a 12V-12,1A;5V-1A power reading on the back). This is my fourth 360. Damnit, I'm just a sucker. :(

i think my 360 finally bricked, cant play games on it all, lucky if it will even boot to the screen now

i've had it since march of 2006, so past warranty, idk maybe ill buy an arcade

Just got E74 on my 360 while playing Phantom Dust...the graphics were kinda weird, restarted the console to see if it would fix the problem, and... :(
Zephyr, bought close to halo 3 release.

And of course, the receipt that I am 100% sure to have left in the box, is gone.

To get a coffin in Canada, you have to call customer support I suppose?

I don't know about that, but you don't need the receipt for the warranty.

Need some help guys!

My 360 started displaying weird ass colors, the blacks become green and everything looks weird. Seems like a GPU issue. I tried different cables on 4 different tv's and it's all the same.

The problem is that I get no error code and it runs fine other than that. Should I keep using it until I get an error code or should I call them up right away? This should be covered by their warranty right?

Ugh, so tired of this console, on my 4th one and it's still giving me trouble. Ridiculous!

How old is the machine?

What you're seeing there is the prelude to an E74 error... when it happens is a matter of time, but obviously that doesn't help you in the short term.

i was at gamestop yesterday, with my 20 month old rroded elite and they just gave me a brand new one :-O they even printed a new receipt so that ive got full waranty again :-O

not sure if statistics are still being kept track of or whatever... i posted the day it broke so I may have been counted already, if so ignore this.

Console broke: April 1
Coffin received: April ~7
Repaired and returned: April 21
Model: Elite with MFR date of 2007-11-08 (Falcon i think)
Reason for repair: graphical distortion stuff (prelude to E74) - i lied and put rrod on their site to get a free repair

Got a slightly newer console (MFR date of 2008-02-25, old one was 2007-11-08) with the BenQ drive. This is my second 360 failure (first was an RROD in Nov 2006).

My 360 died on me the other week. I put in a dvd to watch, and about 3 minutes into the previews all the color on the screen went weird; everything looked like an oil painting. A few minutes later the whole thing freezes up, so I shut it off and turn it back on. There's no RRoD, but nothing comes up on the screen now. :'(

My first 360 Elite lasted me almost two years before it died. I had a Best Buy warranty and exchanged it through them. Now the new one that I replaced it with not even 3 months ago is dead. My warranty is still good for another month so I'm going to exchange it, but I've heard that Microsoft will only let you do one account transfer per year. Is this true? Will I be able to transfer my account again and re-download all my XBLA purchases?

Also, how can I tell (other than the games advertised on the back of the box) if the new one I buy will be the newest model?
