Okay, so if I turn on my 360 and the only visual I can get is scrolling white dots and/or flashing messed up colors, what does that mean?
 
my 360 red ringed yesterday :D i was so happy, at last i can get my new heatsink



but



i had just forgotten to plug the video cable in :'( damn thing, i had to force myself to sit through playing some great games again
 
So I had to send my 360 back in. E64 error, DVD drive. I knew it was coming because it would make horrible screeching noises when playing discs. They were giving me crap about fixing it till I bitched alot. I guess sending them in are still pretty prominent because I walked into the ups store and before I set the box on the counter the girl said "returning a xbox?" All I could do was laugh.

Anyways, is their any chance at all MS will just send me a new version Xbox?
 
MOTHERFUCKERS.

So, today my X360 decides to start getting stuck almost all the time so I have to restart it. I don't get any red light of doom though. And my two year warranty just expired like two months ago. I'm fucking pissed. I have a three year warranty too automatically, but that only applies if it's the RLOD which is fucking my machine up.
 
My 360, which I want to say I've had since.... the March after launch, maybe? Well. Ol Faithful is now fucked.


Whenever I turn it on, it'll start up, as usual, log me in, aiSJDFJSOASDJOIASJF.

thats about the equivilent to the sound that it makes. So it makes loud static sound that makes you cringe, then the screen kind of gets scrambled, almost, and then the system freezes up.

Lie? That's what I would do.

If you don't want to do that, continue to use the machine, there's a good chance it will RROD sooner or later.

They'll go for it? I mean, they don't try to plug it in or anything?

Either way, it worked fine again just now. But we'll see for how long.

Broken Xbox tend to RROD, but not all the time. They won't take the risk and time to check it again.
 
It's strange though, I'm playind COD4 online now and it's like nothing ever happened. It's working great. Of course, there's that huge lump of anxiety about the console maybe breaking down SOMETIME -- YOU NEVER KNOW! :(

It's funny, I've never had that feeling. I suppose it's because if it does break for me I'll take 10 mins out to swap it out at the shop... 's the advantage of being covered in store.

The thing is, I've had it for longer than two years as I said. If I hadn't there wouldn't be any problem.
 
Well, my 4th 360 is starting to act up. Mega sigh. The drive has gotten progressively louder and louder over the last few days whilst playing Blue Dragon. It looks like I will be leaving the realm of 360 gaming soon, for I swore if it broke again that I would.

Funny side note: I was in the local Gamestop yesterday pre-ordering some stuff and noticed their kiosk 360 was RRoD'd. I pointed and giggled and the guy behind the counter looks at me, then looks at the kiosk and goes, "Again?! We just got it back from being fixed last week!"
 
I gave my 360 a good nights rest for no new results =(

what is there to do with a non-red-ringed 360?

besides 1. buying a brand new one, 2. crying.
do i have any other options?

That's equivalent to 3 ring failure.

Just call MS and say that you've experienced freezes, and occasionally see 3ROL.

I have three fixed Xbox 360s that I did myself. One has completely died due to my stupidity using pennies to fix the problem (check out xbox-scene). The other two still work after an year since I have lapped the heatsinks, cut out the mesh grill blocking the fans, applied MX-2 Thermal paste, placed ram heatsinks, and did a fan shroud mod. I did X-Clamp replacements on all three.

The only time you will run in trouble with repairs is you opened your X360 and voided your warranty. If the guy who receives your broken Xbox is nice enough, he'll send it back without charge with an angry letter attached to it.

pretty sure they check and if it isn't RROD, they'll box it up and send it back to you (still broken).

Just kick it down some stairs or something

Uh... no. Just make sure the RMA ticket has your problem listed that it has occasional 3ROL.

Sending it back tomorrow. Won it from a Coca-Cola competition before Christmas, 2006. Has served me well. Now, nothing.

It's dark.. :(

My machine had a busted DVD Drive and on the ticket I mentioned (lied) that it constantly overheated and returned RRODs. Needless to say they replaced the whole innards of the unit. Totally worth it.

Heh, same exact thing happened to me. Woman working at the counter said "I know what that is, just leave it on the counter."
 
How long is the turn around now? The coffin arrived in Texas on Wednesday...MS hasn't sent me an email to update me or anything -_-'

The first lady told me 3 weeks. The second guy said 3 weeks but then I heard him whisper "or 4 weeks".

Better be back by Culdcept Saga is all i'm asking for.

damn! i sent mine in on Monday and it has been sent back to me as of Saturday, so it should arrive by tuesday.

Course I guess they are not as busy in Canada :D
 
Well.... My 5 month old Elite just died. 3 red rings... Motherf.... All is well, I talked to my local EB and they're going to take care of me.
 
Ahh, why did my 360 have to break on MLK day :( ? It disgusts me. It is probably going to take 3-4 weeks for it to be fixed now. Oh well, no use in complaining, but now I am going to get bored.
 
So, my X360 is acting up again with a twist.

Now it freezes in game and when I try to restart it nothing happens. No ring, no nothing, just the "ON" symbol in the middle is glowing and the screen is blank. Then I restart it and it works for like a minute in game till it freezes.

EDIt: Oh yeah, there's like this high pitch "beep" when it freezes too.

Mine did that, you've got about a week till it goes dead for good.


On another note:

I just got my 260 back, How can I tell if it's a new one or old one?
 
There goes my 360, red ring of death total. That was my third 360 too. I was trying to send it back with the automated online service but there was some problem with the serial number, so I hope I can get it sorted by phoning them up tommorow. This is not good as Uni is a very boring place, and I used my 360 to keep me occupied. If the PS3 supported VGA or my TV had component I'll probably get it for these types of situations, but both possibilities are unlikely for a long while. I do have my DS and PSP though, with Advance Wars: Days of Ruin and Wipeout Pulse to play on each respectively, but I am pretty upset right now, I really was looking forward to Burnout Paradise :(.
 
Helluva reliable machine, this.

Hopefully MS will let me send it in since I had one swift encounter with RLOD there, even though it seems to work somewhat right now.
 
Sup all ... Need to vent.

Got my Elite on 9/07 -- I have babied this unit to death. I gutted the back of the cabinet so the hot air can escape. I put a ac foam filter on the back the door to the cabinet to try and keep dust out. I dusted the darn thing every other day.

Played some GH3 & Rockband -- just turned it on -- 3 red....

God I am annoyed. Anyways called up support -- ordered my coffin for it. It's going to take about 3-4 weeks -- I can't go that long without some COD 4, GH 3, Rockband and tomorrow - Burnout... So I was thinking about going to Walmart and grabbing a Arcade 360 to hold me over -- does Walmart take back open systems?
 
My Jan06 X360 just died. Gave it back to Costco and am currently waiting for a Falcon Arcade unit (kept my HDD and using HDMI -- no reason to go Premium).

Unfortunately all the Arcade units I have seen are 203W, as MS apparently made too many Arcades and the inventory channel is still full of old units.

Time will tell if I need to break down and pay $70 more for the Premium. Depends on when the next big release hits (not DMC4 for me). Have a PS3 and Wii to keep me company, and am currently replaying X-Men Legends 2 -- better game than MUA.
 
Wow. they're really bitching with me at the support. I got that RLOD one time last night, and with all the freeizing you can be pretty sure what's going on, but they said they won't help me unless it's totally RLOD'd or ROLD'd just as I call.
 
I got so pissed at some woman at the support that I told her I'd wrap the fucking machine in towels to make it hotter and put it on till it RLOD'd "because that's obviously what you guys want me to do even though you know what's wrong with it".
