I think we'll at least get Evans and RDJ on site with the announcement of Cap 3's title. They haven't really publicized Iron Man's role in Cap 3 as yet so that will be a big thing to make a formal announcement about.

I think it was just because it was DURING NYCC, so they had to make a big buzz about it. This time they've got their own thing to themselves, and they'll probably have a press release go out later today for the general public.
Yeah I don't think that would happen, they wouldn't show up, this isn't comic con where they are presumably contracted to go.

Not expecting any announcements beyond their 2016 slate. Making a lot more Phase 3 announcements might look like a reaction to DC, which I'm not sure Marvel would want to do (though they may not care).

Yeah there's going to be a ton of disappointed people (including me) after it's just the Strange casting announcement and movie date.

Yeah, I wonder how much they'll hold back. They may want to just lay it all out there. 2016 is fairly close, oddly enough.

Hmm, I wonder if we'll get some more info about the upcoming Netflix shows.

Nah, this is separate.

Disney is providing Press with Wifi at the Marvel event (not a norm for the movie theatre setting), seems to suggest news will be breaking.

Ike Perlmutter: What?! Who approved this! Do you know how much internet costs?! *starts ripping out wires*

Get it out! GET IT OUT! And cut back on catering! No carrots this time!

I feel like nobody here even remembers this year's SDCC. I mean the trailer was really cool but wow there were so many disappointed people. I wouldn't expect any BP or Captain Marvel announcements until next year at the earliest.

That's because they barely announced shit. And the entire world besides a few people in the room saw that trailer.

Hoping this will be more!

I think the plan was phoenix was supposed to walk out in hall h

Super excited to see news later today. Hope its new stuff and not more sequels, Thor & Ironman are wearing thin for me. Could go for more Cap though.

Ah, do the TV shows come under a separate wing rather than Marvel Studios?

Rather than a new announcement, I was feeling like this would be an overall snapshot of their movies/shows coming out over the next few years.

They just recently had a Netflix/Daredevil panel at NYCC the other week. So there's probably not much news/info that they would have to reveal today.

Feige said they'll be doing at least 1 established franchise and 1 new franchise every year going forward. So the idea is that 2016 will see Captain America 3 and Doctor Strange, 2017 will be GOTG2 and 2 other films, and 2018 will probably see Thor 3 and 2 others.

SDCC happened because they finally realised the Comic-Con crowd will cum buckets just to breath roughly the same air as RDJ, and the breaking news is less important. Hence this event.

Not that I expect a lot from this - formal Dr Strange announcement is basically all I'm anticipating - but it'll definitely be more "newsy".

Yeah, they're under a different wing. Following all the Marvel stuff is confusing, truth be told.

I think so too, but if that's the case, they put all their eggs in one basket

They've already laid out movie dates, only thing left is to fill the dates ie BP etc

They announced GOTG 2 and essentially confirmed Thanos will wear the infinity gauntlet. It wasn't much except confirmed rumors and expectations... much like I expect this event to be. They'll confirm the Strange talk and MAYBE the Civil War stuff.

My guess is that the Strange casting was holding up the really big MCU news at SDCC, due to Joaquin Phoenix declining the role. Now that Cumberbatch has apparantly accepted, we are getting this huge press event now, with Marvel announcing their full Phase 3 slate.

Seeing Spidey in the MCU would be great. Don't know if putting Garfield and Sony's iteration is the best choice though.

And would you ever want to put Morales in? He has got no personality compared to Peter.

It's just easier to extrapolate a larger amount of news when something is "for the press" rather than "for the fans".

Doesn't make it right, but hey, I wouldn't blame anyone for doing it.

Right that's what I expect too. My point is that people are still getting hyped for more when there's no reason to be.

Nah, I remember and the good thing this time is that the hype is coming from people who are there and not only from Marvel themselves.

A coworker told me about the "Civil War" story line, it sounds amazing. @__@

It's something, people know but are not spilling the beans other than saying , it's going to be a fun morning. Them announcing Doctor strange who we already know about is not a 'fun' morning.

So they are holding an event to announce nothing that we don't already know? Seems like a weird thing to do.
Both things I listed are rumors and speculation. This would be an official announcement. The Strange casting leak didn't even come up until yesterday when they'd likely already had the event planned. If they reveal new info, it will just be other smaller details like the movie date and official title.
Edit: we might get some plot details too.

Exactly. They aren't going to spend the dough for this and invite everyone to a paid press conference just to remind everyone of past announcements.
