how you know they didn't capture a chupacabra:
the chupacabra isn't real and neither are other mythical creatures

You don't have proof it is not real. Many mythological creatures may have existed. I know this because I'm a Lizard person from outer space. Damn im cool.

a review of history will reveal the fact that there have been several 'mythical creatures' that ended up turning out to be real.

the dire wolf is one that immediately comes to mind. giant squid is another good example.

It is worth noting however that creatures like the gorilla, komodo dragon, giant squid, etc. were viewed as legendary creatures for a long time because global travel and cameras were not commonplace. Today however, we live in an age where scientists regularly go to remote areas like sub-Saharan Africa and South America to study animals that can be captured by photos and video. Obviously there are still going to be areas like the deep in the jungles of the Amazon or Congo and the deep sea where we have limited penetration. However, creatures like Bigfoot, El Chupacabra, Loch Ness Monster, etc. would be easily observable if they existed as their supposed habitats are not exactly areas we do not commonly observe and even live in.

hairless raccoon

In fairness, if I saw a hairless raccoon coming at me in the wild my first thought would probably be "Dear God what is that THING!?" and not "Oh this is definitely a common forest animal afflicted with a horrible disease and stripped of its fur."

If I wanted to be sure it was a Chupacabra, though, I'd need a goat to do some testing.

Come on the guy has been hunting racoons for over 20 years and he is pretty sure that it isnt a racoon...Is it a Chupacabra? He doesnt know...

If you ask me its just a wild animal with a disease (so probably a hairless racoon) but if there is a video of this thing sucking out bloog of either a goat or a cow or a clown, call me and I will reevaluate

I'm always amused at how the cats are just letting the raccoon do its thing. The one even backs off. lol
The small grey cat on his right is putting his paw up probably trying to identify what the hell that creature is, but pulls away when Ricky Raccoon runs off.

Not exactly a good way to argue that there may be cryptids running around today.

All of those are examples of a less globalized world hearing reports of animals that they had no contact with. Of course the Greeks thought Tigers legendary, because they had not seen them... whereas Tigers were well known to other cultures at the same time.

Also, the existence of other, previous legendary creatures, regardless of timeframe, does not prove the existence of anything.

LOL at the "expert". Come on! Did he even look at it? A 4 year old would know that is not a canine just by watching it eat or looking vaguely at its paws.

Looks like a raccoon to me.
