Name your Top 5 favorite racers ever.

1) Project Gotham Racing 2. I've spent so much time racing online with this game I don't even want to count anymore. Almost lag free, perfect voice support, perfect handling (not sim perfect, but "fun" perfect)
2) Both Rallisport. Excellent arcade sensations, with pretty graphics as a bonus.
3) F1 Spirit (obscure Konami game on MSX). I don't remember how much time I've spent playing this game so long ago, but it was such a great racer, with a lot of different races (from Rally to F1)
4) POD. On of my first 3dfx game. Really impressive when launched, and Ubisoft did great by releasing a lot of free bonus tracks.
5) Sega Rally 2. Nuf said :)

Tell me it is a joke, please...

Ridge Racer 64 actually wasn't that bad. Better than that crap that was RRType 4, IMHO. At least Namco redeemed themselves with RRV. Still Rage Racer tops my list, along with Rock N Roll Racing, Top Gear 2, Need For Speed: Hot Pursuit 2, and Burnout 3: Takedown. NFSU, RRV, F-Zero get honorable mentions.

No particular order, really

Midnight Club 2 - had more fun playing this online than anything though
Burnout 3
Mario Kart (SNES)
F-Zero GX
Rage Racer

1. F-Zero X
2. Excitebike 64
3. Metropolis Street Racer
4. Waverace: Blue Storm
5. F-Zero GX

I wish Leftfield had been given another chance at the Excitebike franchise.

1- TOCA Race Driver 2
2- Dale Jarret and Terry Labonte Racing
3- Gran Turismo 2
4- Cruisin USA (arcade)
5- Race Drivin' (arcade)

Please tell me you mean the PSOne game, and not the shitty Xbox/PS2 game...

Yes i mean the godly Xbox/PS2 version. Maybe you remember the shitty Pro Race Driver Xbox-Ps2?

Actually it's just a hair before "Dale Jarret and Terry Labonte Racing" (a codemaster Psone TOCA game under a very bad name) because of it's online mode. Dale Jarret and Terry Labonte is a better game in some other regards as there is a better cockpit view and night racing + better and dynamics weather effects.

1. Daytona USA (arcade)
2. Daytona USA 2 Battle on the Edge / Power Edition (arcade)
3. Rave Racer (arcade)
4. OutRun2 (Xbox)
5. Ridge Racer V (PS2)

Well, going by "feeling" value, I guess my (PC heavy) top5 in no particular order would be something like:

Fatal Racing
Death Rally
Slicks'n'Slide (does this count? :))
Moto GP (Xbox Live)
Slipstream 5000

Carmageddons rocked... and many of those scifi based racers, Dethkarz, Rollcage and others.

1. GT3 - there is none higher, sucker MCs call it sire :D
2. GT1
3. GT2 - didn't play as much as the other two
4. Wipeout XL
5. Formula 1: Championship Edition (PS1)

PEACE.

Virtua Racing (Arcade)

1. Need for Speed: High Stakes - all time favorite racer. It had everything that made NFS3 good but better tracks.

3. Mario Kart 64 - same as above but with the multiplayer

OMG, another Slicks 'n' Slide lover ! Me and my friends at university spent soooooo much time playing some 4 players sessions of that game, all on one keyboard. Intense fun.
I wonder if Timo Kauppinen works in the gaming industry now.

I put alot of time into each of these. All of them were great for their time.
