Naoki Hamaguchi interview with Epic Games about the PC version of Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth

I am also saying that when Bloomberg reported what Square Enix said, people choose to not believe it and attacked Bloomberg

Square still could have been unrealistic in their expectations. And selling like 50k copies on PC isn't going to change much.

I do think it's possible that they could get a decent amount on Switch 2. But we would have to see there.

Both of those games had good word of mouth. This doesn’t hold up. Ghost also bombed on PC

yeah, it bombed so hard that it was #1 on NPD for its release month

I think this is going to sell 300-500K on PC. Maybe even more. Nice little boost.

The vast majority of people who have played this game loved it. So you’re all in for a treat.

Maybe not fucking release it one year later for a high price?
it's weird how the FF16 devs realised this and launched at 50, FF7 came out swinging launching at an insane 80.
I see that rebirth has a pre purchase discount, but after that it's straight back up to 70, so unless you fomo prepurchase you'll get fucked by the price.

Integrade has the DLC included and you can't buy it unbundled (this is the case with the PS5 version as well). The MSRP of FF16 Complete edition is $70.

There is no DLC for Rebirth.

Like many pc ports of late, this will bomb. They’re trying really hard to sell up their games on pc but don’t be surprised when square is disappointed once again in sales.

Maybe they can try and blame it on the lack of a mobile port next time for the laughs
Build a PC, get the game, crank up the visuals, install some sweet Tifa mods, no more salt needed and you’ll enjoy life more, promise 🙂

I have watched some late game VR sims of Rebirth... and I find it kind of funny to that using the bathing suit costume is very popular (that's in the game as is).

I'd find it distracting honestly.

I already enjoyed the game tons on the PS5 a year ahead of the PC guys.

No salt on stating a fact that Square will be disappointed in PC sales for this when it's all said and done.

What part of including DLC versus not including DLC do you not understand?
What part of releasing much later at full price don't you understand? FF16 launched at 70 on ps5, it launched on 50 for pc, FF7r launched 70 on ps4, then got the intergrade a year later at 80 for ps5 and then released on pc 6 months later for the same 80; this is greed not b-bu-bu DLC! 🙄

Sure might sell badly but you often have a negative stance on PC gaming, just saying that you could get out of that and be excited instead. It’s satisfying to not have to kinda waste the first playthrough on lower settings, and it sounds like this is a port they’ve actually spent some time on. Just hoping mod support is good. Remake is great on PC 👌

It's satisfying not having to tweak settings constantly, deal with shader compilation, UE5 judder, poor optimization and ports, and paying out the ass for hardware. I wasn't missing on anything by playing the game day 1, and I'm glad I did. But you do you. Me not gaming on PC shouldn't take away your excitement of this port? Enjoy.

Game is still going to bomb and Square will be left wondering why again.

Do you tweak controller input settings constantly because the settings to remap buttons are there?

You don’t have to tweak settings. It’s just a choice you have when you’re not satisfied with the presets chosen by the developer. Normally I just set everything to Ultra and start playing, I usually remove motion blur too because I don’t want a blurry picture. It’s not a bad thing to not be stuck with a preset mode.

Stutter judder is annoying though, hoping there is nothing like that here.

How so? Playing day 1 on base consoles almost always means you’re missing out on something. And here you clearly missed out on the upgrades they’re adding now. You also missed out on the Pro upgrades DF talked about recently. You might not care about the upgrades but that’s a different thing.

It sure sounds like you’re trying to take out everyone’s enjoyment by how salty and negative your posts come across as. It can’t be just "enjoy this great game PC gamers." You somehow have to come into these topics and shit on PC one way or another and tell us how you feel about the platform.

They are already saying the current pre-order on PC is going well. if they have unrealistic expectation, that really means a lot.

But the real thing they are doing here is to establish their fanbase on PC, with better and faster releases to pave the way for bigger sale successes for future installment on PC. Like the various other Japanese game series on Steam now

Clearly the poster I responded to was shitting on the console version.

Your first post is this game is going to bomb on PC. No, "Awesome, I hope it does well." Then you said GOT bombed on PC. What is your source for that? I have no idea. Next, you mention why you dislike PC gaming and state a bunch of shit. It's not the first and I suspect not the last time you do that either. You always come into these PC threads to either shit on the platform or speak negatively on the ports.

It’s an interview with square on the port. I’m simply discussing a belief that the game won’t do well and reverse whatever disappointment it had on PS5.

I do hope it sells a meaningful amount so that square feels more justified in making these epic AAA JRPGs but looking at FF16 on PC it doesn’t look like it will move the needle much. PC audience just generally has different tastes. The only Sony game that appears to be a massive hit on PC is HD2. That audience seems highly GaaS driven and doesn’t as much enthusiasm for established IP in the SP or JRPG space, with some rare notable exceptions
