I saw the real deal, and i was highly unimpressed by it. Its not that it looks like a Harry Potter clone, but rather that it looks too kiddy. In my eyes when i read the books it was gritty and dark. But then again its only a trailer and at that its the first book.

Yeah.. I'm getting a 'Lemony Snicket meets Harry Potter' vibe from the teaser. Not good at all..

Smells faintly of rancid stilton.

How does that look too kiddy? Looks pretty epic to me.

Not enough homo-erotic hobbits, I guess.....

Yeah same here. I thought it looked pretty damn good. Hell the fact that they're starting with The Lion, The Whitch, and The Wardrobe makes me happy (instead of the asshat publisher that has now made Magician's Nephew book 1).

I read the book a ridiculously long time ago and well, what's the deal with this professor? I can't remember anything about him, and spending so much time talking about the bizarre rules of the house seems completely pointless in the teaser.

Anyway, something seems really off to me. I can't quite put my finger on it, but it looks like a made-for-TV miniseries that one of the main networks might air during sweeps.

Kinda how I felt watching it too.

Dunno what you guys are complaining about, seemed very epic to me, The presentation came off exactly how I pictured Narnia.

Those complaining about 'teh kiddy' should see the animated film(s).

Having read The Lion, The Witch, and The Wardrobe sometime since I was preteen, the book IS kiddy. It's extremely easy to read and the narrator is like a storytime reader.

What about the BBC versions? ;)

I read the books as a kid and I am very excited about seeing this. I was very disapointed with the BBC version...if the bad props and sets were bad, the actor who played Lucy was worse. This looks to be absoloutly Epic and I think that in terms of maturity it looks like a step up from the books.

Really, this is about what I would expect from the film. It has a dreamy quality to it...there was little use of dark and more use of colour...some of it gets gaudy looking (The Kids in their medieval garb), while some it it stands out as stunning visual work. There are literally a cross between Harry Potter and Lord of the Rings, in terms of where they're going with this...it's whether they are able to create characters that exude beyond the fantasy, and whether the world itself is magical enough to serve its own purpose.

I have seen a play version, but am going to try to do a lot of reading this summer and might get into Narnia.

It seems perfect to me. The kids seem like great actors who don't overdo it.
My only issue is that I always pictured Lucy hiding in the closet and slowly wandering back into it and eventually into a snowy Narnia. Not some bright light shooting forth from it.

That might just be for the trailer. The book is pretty straight-forward when it says she hid back there and didn't discover Narnia until she pushed herself towards the back of the wardrobe, through all the coats.

I'm really looking foward to this movie, but something just doesn't seem right about it. I have no clue what it is though. It just feels every so slightly off from my imagination's vision of the books. The house just feels wrong to me. Narnia itself looks amazing and I am very happy with how it turned out, especially the castle. It looks perfect. The kids, I'm not sure. They don't say almost anything in the trailer, and it gives me zero feel for them. It scares me that they might not have done a good job, and they're trying to hide this by not having any of their dialogue in the trailer.

Teaser Trailers normally don't contain much dialog. I wouldn't worry.

I know this might get me flammed.. but something was off on the CG lion too. Being a little too picky, but hopefully everything turns out great.

Looks like they've taken a few liberties with the opening of the story. Maybe it's because I've read the book at least 6-7 times and still read it fairly regularly, but I was disheartened with the whole vale covering the wardrobe and with the mystery surrounding the professor. The kids actually talk to him and he's really nice in the book. As for Narnia...FUCKING EH RIGHT. It looks absolutely fantastic. I almost have tears of joy in my eyes. *hides*

Please be great, please sell my childhood back to me tastefully.

All I ask is massive armies of fantasy creatures beating the fuck out of everything in sight. Do I ask too much?

The teaser seems to deliver, but this is ostensibly a childrens movie. Correct?

I think there were differences in the lions..the one in the actual trailer looks much more perfected than the one at the end which i am guessing was done up for the trailer alone and not in the movie.

i am surprised at the underimpressed comments as i personally thought it was great (though i have been anticiapting the film for some time now).

it definately gave me goosebumps!

BTW: this is the picture of where I think Aslan looks solid:

it looks meh to me, never read the books but it seems like its a book for kids

Don't worry, you won't like it anyways. Too much Christian analogy in it for you.

I'm going to pick up the collected hardcover edition of Narnia sometime before December to read them again.

Will this movie have a cameo by Peter Griffin having his sock stolen by the goat guy? If so, I'll go see it. :)

Loved the trailer and the 'dreamy' quality they gave the film. I love the character design, and the CG seems like it'll be decent.

One thing stuck out like a sore thumb to me, what's with this shot of Aslan?

Is there a scene with a fake Aslan in the book, because I sure don't remember that. This looks like some kind of deformed puppet? I hope this isn't a final shot?

that scene in the teaser flashed by in about .3 seconds though.

You know.. and this might only be my opinion.. but the rich colors actually give the film a more realistic feeling. Again, it might just be me.

It's when Aslan sacrifices himself to save Edmund, IIRC.

That looked fucking awesome. I really don't get the LOTR comparisons. So anything with swords in non-Earth environment is LOTR?

whats with people saying the child actors are ugly? so they aren't fucking super-models...they are just a normal bunch of kids. I didn't think that Peter or Susan looked that bad to be honest...Lucy and Edmund may not be the most flattering but as I said...they don't have to be.
