As for the editing, from what they're saying, it shouldn't be as bad as One Piece. For one, they've said they are leaving "most" of the original soundtrack (I take this to mean they will only change the openings and endings), which already makes it many times better than One Piece's dub.
And they have said they will released uncut DVDs.

I don't know, just d/l episode 1 and see if you like it (unless you prefer dubs, then just wait for the CN showing). One of the groups fansubbing Naruto has an xdcc archive bot with episodes 1-144 and it's very fast (usually ~ 2-5 minute queue, 10-30 minute d/l time).

My post was based on the synopsis on CartoonNetwork's website. I admit I judged it based on that alone. At first glance it does look like another childish shonen anime. But my intention was to get some first-hand impressions or opinions of the show from its fans, but I guess i'm gonna get the usual anime-fan response: "STFU N00B U DONT NO ABOUT N4RUTO!!11"
Sorry if was being ignorant before, but you guys gotta understand, alot of us are completely in the dark about this stuff, and I'm actually kind of interested in this series. Help me out.

Maan, I'm amazed how much hate Naruto gets from the people who JUST LOST OUT THEIR CHILDHOOD BECAUSE DBZ RAPED THEIR MINDS AND MADE THEM THE BITTER KIDS THAT THEY ARE. I mean seriously, Naruto is preety good (it's ABSOLUTE SHIT right now though), and will be the biggest anime since DBZ bar none. Haters are just scared.

90% if not all of the music will probably be replaced, I'd be VERRRRRRRRRRY suprised if the opening/ending themes were kept intact. Viz is doing it, and they've already said they're going to have edited dvds separate from unedited DVDs. I expect the same sort of mangling that they did with Zatch Bell.

90% of the music should actually be staying, according to all reports. Viz has said that most of the soundtrack will stay intact. OPs and EDs will probably change, though.Mairu said:

Oh, there are a few new ones.
Sasuke is being played by Yuri Lowenthal (The Prince from Prince of Persia: Sands of Time)...apparently this guy is already cast as Renton in the English version of Eureka 7...I can't believe they've casted that already.
Hinata is being played by Stephanie Sheh (she's apparently only done a couple minor roles).
The Third Hokage is being played by Steve Kramer (who seems to have done lots of stuff, but usually as side characters, including several side characters in Cowboy Bebop like Whitney Matsumoto).
Ino is Colleen O'Shaughnessey, who is Suzy on Zatch Bell.
And that's it for now.
I enjoyed Naruto when I was following the subs.... but I just didn't have time to keep up with it... I hope they stay fairly close to the story... this I can just TIVO and record at my leisure... somebody please reminds us as we get closer to the date so I can remember to set up a season pass for it....
