Naruto Shippuden |OT| The Filler Chronicles (Anime Only! No manga spoilers)

Both manga and anime were pretty good this week.

In the manga, we see some new moves by Sasuke and learn more about Jugo.

And the anime, we finally get to see the ultimate sealing jutsu animated and the rest of the the Akatsuki group, such as "green eyes" and "scarlet eyes", and Zetsu finally gets named too.

Next week's manga sounds promising of course with mention of
Itachi. And perhaps if we see him, we'll get to delve into the aftermath of Akatsuki losing Hidan and Kakuzu which has yet to happen

Deidera's gonna be all like "I told you so, bitches!"

Part of me is hoping they don't just keep replacing people like they did with Sasori. Maybe they need more people to do faster extractions, but if they just keep replacing people, this is never gonna reach climax. :P We haven't even seen what all the current members can do. :(
 
I don't think that replacements are forthcoming.
Tobi was a special case because he was a subordinate of Zetsu and was the one who found Sasori's ring. We haven't seen any other subordinates of Akatsuki since then. Plus I'm sure Kishi would realize that bringing on new people would drag things out. He could always bring back Hidan since he's not really dead, and perhaps even Kabuto would take Orochimaru's ring and try to join.

Good episode,
Sakura learned quite a bit more than just raw strength from Tsunade. Naruto's lines at the end were classic Naruto too, must mean a lot to him for Kankuro to believe in him that strongly.
 
Nice anime episode. Pretty much focused on Sakura's new growth as a medical ninja, and I found it actually better done in anime form that it was in the manga.

Speaking of the manga, it looks like
Suprise, the goal of Sasuke and his new group is to kill Itachi. Suigestsu wants to go so he can get Kisame's sword, Karin wants to go to be around Sasuke, and Juugo apparently sees Sasuke as a reincarnated Kimimaro, so he'll probably die for him.

And of course, Naruto will also be going after Itachi. I'm still waiting to see the actual fallout in Akatuski though in regards to the deaths of Hidan and Kakuzu.

Looks like the anime is back to following the manga closely now. Of course I knew it'd end the way it did, but at least it'll make me look forward to next weeks ep.

No manga chapter this week because of Golden week.
 
The anime is really great. There hasnt been a single boring episode until now. If one wanted to choose one, the "worst" episode was 11, though even Sakura´s healing was kinda interesting.
Cant wait for episode 13.

Didn't he take O's ring to an agent of the evil group, ask to be re-admitted and was then summarially killed by that agent? I know Sasuke didn't kill him, but I got the impression Itachi's group very much did in fact butcher him like a hog.

Needless to say, Kabuto is still alive but no idea what he is currently doing.

The anime episode just seemed to be trying to stall the fight with Itachi to me. It could have been better if they would just move it along but it was alright.

I hope they don't make a certain upcoming fight involving puppets as long as it was in the manga.

The manga was pretty good this week with lots of Akatsuki and very little of Sasuke's annoying fangirl.
 
The way Kishi written Karin you know she wants to get in Sasuke pants, but shes using him and two she wants him to be her fanboy. A pussy-whipped Sasuke falls into
Akatsuki
plans and army faster than Ocho powered Sasuke.
 
While I'm fine with the anime, I do wonder why it's not getting the quaity animation support from Studio Peirrot as they have been giving Bleach. The difference in quality between the two shows is staggering and makes you wonder how the same company is responsible for both.

So why does Bleach get so much more attention than Naruto anyway?

As for the manga, happy to see it back on track and no longer oozing with too much Sasuke.

Kisame kicks so much ass. Coolest Akatsuki member..Best voice too.

And for some reason....i have a feeling that Tobi is Obito....who knows though..

episode 14 should be great considering the chapter in the manga its based on was pretty great.
 
I seriously don't understand why there's been so much goddamn filler in the Manga. I mean, it's been almost two months since
Oro got eaten and it has managed to move to the point where Sasuke wants to kill Itachi. Seems to be really suffering from a lack of pages or something, that whole Sasuke team thing had bizarre pacing.

Hehe, indeed, tells ya something about the writing if people are talking of canon material as "filler" :D

Anyway, I'm hoping Naruto anime will improve animation quality wise in the future with Bleach soon to be back on fillers of its own.
 
Hoooooly shit episode 14 sucked. An embarrassment.
Gai releasing the gates
was roughly 100x poorer done than when
rock lee did it
back in the day. The art direction is wildly uneven, the animation seems to have a lower framecount every episode and what there is seems to be completely mishandled. I can deal with bad pacing since it's not so bad when watching something consecutively later on, but this is just plain garbage.

Promising first episode, cool forest test thing, very mildly entertaining gaara battle, but it's been going downhill from the start of shippuuden. Yuck.
 
Again, I don't think anyone would believe the same studio is responsible for both this and Bleach if you compared the animation.

So when does Bleach go back into filler? Cause that may be the only time when Naruto gets some of the competent animators back. Though the preview for Ep 15 looked ok.

:lol episode 13 and 14, I cant believe how bad they screwed up the anime

since it started I never thought Shippuden had been great, but I put up with it thinking that the fight scenes would be great animated, they were cool in the manga, but this is just horrible. I cant believe how long they are stretching this, they are adding so much pointless crap to the fight and with the terrible animation, it is just a joke. The music was also hilarious in the episode, the one song towards the end sounded like it was from Prince of Tennis, it didnt fit the situation at all.
 
Shippuuden is just a joke now. I cannot believe it's this ridiculously bad. The animation in Naruto nearly five years ago was better than this.

And here I was hoping we'd see near 133 calibre stuff more often in Shipuudden before it began :lol

seriously, I remember talking to my friend before Shippuden and telling him how awesome it would be because they had a year to get it perfect and every episode would have the animation of 133 and it wouldent beat around the bush and get right to the good stuff.

It really is just such a let down, I dont get how they messed it up so bad, One Piece and Bleach both are examples on how to do things right.
 
I got tired of Naruto both manga and anime form, to me it jumped the shark around the Hokage's death, but the animation of the last episode really sucked I guess since Bleach has more sucess now they skimp a lot on Naruto's budget.
 
heh, going by the last few replies, it seems I did the right thing by skipping shippuden. The manga, I can't even remember where I stopped reading.

Naruto used to be awesome. It started with he Tsunade arc, then hit the ground digging with the sasuke one. It was all over from there. I also haven't watched/read Bleach and a long time, but apparently it's been pretty good? I'll catch up to it one day.

On an somewhat-related point, I had a dream about Hajime no Ippo last night.
 
Wow... almost nothing happened. At first I thought it was just because before I was catching up so I had loads of eps to watch in a row, but now I realise the pacing has become terrible. I can take the bad animation, but when I waste about 25 mins watching something that I could've seen in 5-10 mins - that's annoying.
 
Although nothing happened in the manga this week, it looks like some progress is being made.

I can actually see some closure in the horizon, the next arc should be one better ones in quite sometime.

4 Teams about to square off, with some long awaited Hinata, maybe she'll finally profess her love for naruto? Do she even like him still? the manga made hardly any reference to her crush after the time jump

The only time Hinata has been in the manga post-time skip has been to show that she still crushes on Naruto

Seeing as to how Suigetsu seems to take the weapons of the defeated, is he indeed the brother of Sai? As Sai's book detailed the stealing of weapons and armor of defeated foes, and a white-haired brother, it seems really possible.

I waited a long time 2 say that... i jus came from a NEOGAF vacation

what's with this lighter side of Sasuke, he's almost smiling recently, really not happy with the Manga or Anime currently. :\

he's just got his swagger back from the beginning of the series... most of the middle he spent realizing/fearing that he wasn't strong enough to defeat his brother, now he's got a bit of confidence.
 
As I've been saying, the anime's been crap. All hope is out the window. It looks like they're sticking with the same shitty animation throughout. I thought they'd get good studios to do the big bouts, but that's probably not the case.

I actually thought he was gonna be a badass now. I actually liked him better when I thought he might have turned bad and only had his lust for revenge in mind. Much less whining and emo pondering poses.

So yeah, about the last chapter
why would the leaf village want Sasuke captured? Shouldn't he be hunted down and executed? They can't cover it up by saying that he was being held hostage anymore. And if he doesn't want to come back, what are you gonna do after you capture him? He doesn't want to hang out with you losers anymore, get over it! When Orochimaru was around, they wanted to "save" him, but that's all out the window now.

The interesting part will be when they realize that they're not dealing with one person. I wonder why they chose Hinata's team besides that it was their turn. Kakashi says he has a reason... Oh well, at least we get to see them in action.

It looks like the teams will be intercepted by Tobi and Deidera, though.

So, if this build up actually pays off, we get to finally see Tobi, Sasuke's team, and Team 8 in action. We get to see the full extent of Kisame's strength and Sasuke's new skills. And, maybe, we get to see Sasuke's Itachi hunt climax.

If all that happens, then it was worth the build up. Although, it may be as anti-climactic as the Orochimaru wipeout.

They're not capturing Sasuke, they're capturing Itachi, so that Sasuke will come to them. That's why they chose Hinata's team, because they needed a team that was better with restraining techniques rather than outright killing.

Shikamaru's team would be better at that though. Hinata's team is better at tracking.
