NASA today launched the X-43A Hypersonic test vehicle, which successfully reached Mach 10 for approximately 10 seconds.

This also represents the last use of a B-52 as a research launch vehicle.

I don't believe they expect to get any information from the actual vehicle (which is actually quite small) compared to the cost to actually find something that small in the vastness of the ocean
