NBA 2K13 |OT| Because Live is Dead

Anyone else having a problem now with playing too many minutes in MyCareer? The last few games, I've played about 40 minutes. Also, towards the end of the game, wide open 3pt that I would normally nail with an A+ are C's at best. I'm assuming that has to do with stamina. Kind of annoying being that useless on the court.

No one boxes out in your team, they avoid it like a disease. So many offensive rebounds it is maddening. And no one packs the paint or helps. So hard to open up outside shots cause of it. Yet I can't stop playing My Player because it's the closest to a sports RPG so far. Even if my team routinely gets loses by 20+, and everyone just likes standing around playing isoball.

I can't stand it when someone passes the ball to a big man in the paint and the ball goes right through the body of the defender in front of him. I mean come on. It's hard enough to defend against "paintballing" but when the ball just goes right through your body, it's really frustrating.

Also maybe this is just me, but I would think if I had the ball in the paint, and my defender is right in front of me with his hands up it would be fairly difficult to score... right? Now throw in a second defender on my side with his arms up, it would be damn near impossible for me to score. I always help on defense so this kind of thing always happens, but of course it doesn't effect anything.

I have been playing in a league and I played 3 straight players in a row who just did 'paintball'. I haven't touched the game in 3 weeks. I need to to man up and learn how to stop it. The thing is I don't know what exactly is the problem. It could be my manual defense is trash. Or it could be the game in general has a problem with it. Or last it could be the Bobcats personnel. Lots-o-factors.

Trust me, its not your fault. There are two factors that if both are implemented make it almost impossible to stop: a good passer, and a high level inside scorer. The scorer can be someone like melo who has a high layup/inside shot or someone like Rudy Gay or Deandre Jordan who have a high standing dunk. Basically if the scorer is in position, you lost. I don't play a lot of 1v1 but I usually just run a 1-3-1 zone which help prevent this. It basically just makes inside passes harder to complete and the AI will help on D.

I usually play private Team-up and the best way to stop it there is when your playing position 1-3 just play the passing lanes. I always just go for steals because I know most people just pass to the paint because the center just stands under the basket. One thing 2K could implement to help stop this is for big men who are strong (randolph, perkins, howard, reggie evans, etc.) make it so they can actually push the defender out of the paint. Make it so when the offensive player tries to go straight under the basket (off-ball) the stronger defender can push him away and deny him position.

Another thing to add that would be nice if it was changed: Include a function to switch players in ranked Team-up matches. I think it was 2K11 that had a glitch for this, it was amazing. People play online because they don't want to play against the CPU. So when you get into a game and half of the players quit in the first quarter and then your stuck playing a game full of AI then you might as well quit too. If there was a way to change players so when it comes down to team 1 (PG and SG) vs team 2 (SF and C) people can switch positions so they can at least guard a real player.

I noticed that. Theres a lot of BS in this game, but after playing 2 seasons, I can see that they exaggerate the difficulty at first and suddenly the game styarts to cheat a bit less. Like now, when the guard gets past me (I'm PG) someone ELSE will step in a help defend the paint. At first, if the PG got past me, it was auto layup.

My guy can also make a layup now. In the first season, he could not formulate a layup for two points.

This game is a joke, but it has potential.

It'd be nice if there was an indication of how much Team Chemistry really makes a difference compared to stuff that looks like AI bugs.

We should get people to try this team up crap sometime, if it works

Also it gets annoying in my player when I can't pick and choose what games I want to play

Online in this game gets infuriating. Starting every game staring at a blank menu screen while my opponent changes his defense is the worst, why can't I make changes at the same time too? This game also seems to have a lot of assholes that will make you watch the stat sheet near the end of the game.

but I thought you were good enough to beat superteams with your lowly rockets

intangibles, motherfucker
ill have you know that the series against your 2k bff cb is tied 3-3

and i beat you by like 40 with the rockets mmhm

lakers downgrade LD2K

You left out those wins were a day after I got the game. Before I figured out how to play this shitty game. You've been running ever since.

And Yao was dominant in 2k like 3 years after he stopped playing. I don't wanna hear shit About downgrades from you.

In 2k my player if I demanded a trade away from the Sixers, I sure hope in that same season when I tell the Bucks that I want out that it also means I don't want to go back to the Sixers, which happened

Which also isn't possible in the real NBA I believe

"Let me show you Off Ball Movement"

Great, so I make a fancy off ball move, and my teammate with the ball turns the it over everytime I make a move. If I want to pass a teammate the ball, when the game is close, or the cheating decides to kick in, my teammates will suddenly perform an off ball move, so that it will force me into a turnover.

I have to say, some of the shit they put in is clever.

in MyCareer, will your team make trades at some point? I'm browsing around the "NBA.com Headlines" and see a few of my players on the trading block, some demanding a trade.

That was a few weeks ago (game time) and they're still on the team.

Does anyone have any tips how to get past the dreaded Schedule freeze? Im on PS3.

Played a great game against Cleveland as the Knicks, had 41 points, 6 rebounds and 11 assists and then at the end of 3rd quarter it froze =/

My plan now is to replay the match and just foul out on purpose before end of 3rd, in hopes that i can just get past it.

Finally went ahead and bought this now that Microsoft was selling it on the marketplace for 30 bucks.

Now the part where I have to force myself to not start a season until the trade deadline.

Been doing that MyLife on facebook trying to get to skill level 10 so I can get that dunk package but see myself doing it afterwards cause it's a pretty cool way to earn VC.

Am I the only one who plays Defense in Team-up?! Seriously I hate the site of someone shooting wide open 3's because my teammate doesn't play any D.

Van someone give me some tips on shooting jump shots and 3's, I really suck at it.

This is my first basketball game and besides that I really enjoy it.

started a 3pt specialist sf because I suck at every other position, and boy is it easy. drafted #6 by the blazers, we are 6-1 with every win by 15+ except a win over the spurs by 6. lost to the lakers on opening night by 7. we gon' finals baby.

averaging 14.4ppg in 8.7mpg with 1.4 rebounds. talk about one dimensional haha.

edit: oh and when will I start? the rotation page says I'm getting 28(1)mpg and the 6th man, while wes matthews is getting 32(-1). does that mean I'm about to start?

the shot release is different for every player. the circular indicator will flash when it is the proper time to release the ball. if you have picked a team, take your best shooter into practice mode and get his timing down. turn of shot feedback in the settings.

My Player doesn't make sense. I finally hit free agency (4th year) and I just came off winning Finals MVP, etc. etc. with the Hornets as a C. had rubio at point, wade at SG, and anthony davis at PF. we were unstoppable!

but the Hornets don't want to re-sign me? what. I even had like 97% chemistry with the team lol

The number in parens indicates recent change. So you're trending in the right direction.

oh, awesome. thanks. I'm starting now, a game after I hit a go ahead 3 on a fastbreak with like 10 seconds left. my nickname is mr. clutch. how fitting.

seriously though, I've never been more pumped about a video game hahahaha.

My latest player, Principal Blackman, is a 7' athletic center that got drafted by the Celtics. Started out purely as a block specialist but he's slowly built up an ability to dunk on fools and make just enough offensive moves that he's sometimes the leading scorer.

We had a rough second year with injuries and had to go on a 14 game (!) winning streak at the end of the year to make it into the playoffs and get Miami in the opening round. Oddly enough we have Miami's number (won all but one game against them this year) and the Bulls lost Noah to injury right before we played them at the end of the season and with no size I went off and we killed them.

edit: I realized when going back to the playoffs that Lebron was injured. Now I understand why we were able to beat them so easily.

I picked this up after trading in some games. Picking at MyCareer mostly, and tinkered with several positions and styles. I opted for PG who is a scorer so I can try to improve on defense and passing later. Portland showed great interest in the pre-draft interviews, so I was hopeful to get nabbed by them in the lottery. Eventually I do get picked by them, but they also elected to draft PG Damien Lillard, lol. What sense is that? Trying to vie for some minutes and make smart decisions to remain in the B-/B grades. Maybe they'll slide me into SG if I do enough. Still trying to get the shooting and FT timing down.

The main issues I've had have been talked about briefly in here. AI defense, especially on your own team, is atrocious. The PF's and C's don't really box anybody and the offensive players commonly get offensive rebounds. And other problems I've encountered at some players getting too aggressive and shooting quick, obviously missing so it washes away a series for no reason. Players often stepping out of bounds while passing and receiving the ball to another, some players not catching the ball cleanly even though there's no contact, and I'm charged with a turnover.

Still pretty fun, hopefully I can get pushed into a starting role so the team isn't down 18-4 as I start in my rotation.

Anyone here that has NBA 2K13 (for the PC), has the game been crashing for non-stop today? It's been running fine for me ever since today and when I try to play it now, it just crashes after a minute or so of launching the game

This VC currency business is the shits, I hate carer mode now.
Once I got out of the initial stages it wasn't as bad. You start earning a decent amount of VC each game.

But still, I sort of agree. Even though I've put like 115 hours into 2K13, most of that being in MyCareer mode, the VC system is annoying and feels way too stingy. Like they're just begging you to buy the VC packages with real money.

Also really annoying if your Internet is out or the 2K servers are down because the VC system is tied to that. So you have to enter a weird offline mode and you start earning "skill points" instead of VC and it's all sort of just a clusterfuck. Really obnoxious system.

I can't wait until their shut the servers down, VC will become a huge nuisance.

Well, Association is fucked up with a freeze bug, lol.
I started with the "Today" setting, Heat vs Bucks playoffs and the game keeps freezing whenever I try to play the match or go into Association.

Cool, VC. You guys always put out quality products.
