Live looks better.

That is what I've seen from playable footage.

2k6 looks better in close ups but Live is much nicer in gameplay footage. 2k6 looked quite underwhelming in in game footage.

Can't see this though. Will Gamespot offer this up as a download later?

Agreed, it does look nice close up.

60 frames per second
No present-gen features cut
Superior gameplay
Superior graphics

Looks like NBA 2K6 will be getting my X360 dollars in a couple of weeks.

yeah, i'm just debating whether or not i should wait for next years sports games, as i'm sure they'll even be further improved. i'm definitely not that into sports, but i typically pick up a (single) football, bball, and maybe a soccer game ea. gen. i think i'll probably hold off

Live is supposed to be 60fps too.

So you would prefer next gen graphics with last gen gameplay and features or next gen graphics and next gen gameplay with next gen foundation built from the ground up. ;)

As for gameplay, it's all the same except for the free throw mechanic which is already in 2K6 and they stripped away the superstar moves. As for features, they don't even have a franchise this year.

Nope!

Is this video available anywhere? I may actually break down and buy a bball game this year but I want to make sure I get the best one.

Where's the next-gen gameplay? The ice-sliding players have been in Live since I was working on it back in 96! :lol You also forgot to mention that the "last-gen features" are pretty well standard nowadays - according to your logic sports games should wipe the slate clean at the beginning of every gen and offer nothing but exhibition play. :P

Seriously, Live is OK, but 2K6's gameplay is the truest representation of basketball since Inside Drive.

Well all I mean is that Live is being rebuilt from the ground up like Madden. 2K6 is porting over NBA2K6 with updated graphics, right?

I'm not sold on either one yet. I'll wait for reviews and impressions. From the outside looking in as a casual bball fan Live sounds more impressive for being rebuilt from the ground up.

Yea, thats pretty sad when 2k's so called "current-gen gameplay" is better than EA's next-gen effort. EA's videos show nothing on the gameplay front to get excited about.

I haven't gone and watched this yet, but I watched the Live videos and it looked horrible. So I can't see how 2k would be worse.

If "porting" means including the features I've come to expect - while providing me with next-gen graphics and the best (imo) gameplay on the market, then port away.

I don't see the point of paying an extra 10 bucks for the privilege of a feature-slashed Live because it's been "rebuilt from the ground up", especially when the same problems in the current-gen product appear to be present in the next-gen one.

Now next year, if EA replaces the features they yanked, I'll be more accomodating. This time around, however, they gets nada.

Well I don't really care about offline stuff like franchise. I'll be playing this game mainly online only.

I know 2k6 has leagues but don't know about Live. This could be the difference maker.

i'm no basketball expert, but as far as i'm concerned BOTH basketball games kinda suck. live is too arcadey, and NBA 2k6 is a fucking joke a lot of the time because of the ridiculousness of fast players. you can just run around the D for 15 seconds until you get into the lane. there is no true collision detection "Hey! if i go for a dunk my dunk animation will just push the defender back!", and so on.

p.s.

HEY VC YOU FUCKING IDIOTS! PUT THE DEFENSIVE STANCE BUTTON BACK IN THE GAME!!!!!!!!

LoL,seriously the game shouldn't score above a 5 until this is implemented.I <3 havin people score 60+ in the paint on me,I can stop their penetration so well with the auto defensive stance! :lol

;) Live looks stunning graphically, though I'll give you the shitty animation transitions.

btw.. why do all the 2k6 players look like they've been rolling in flour?

whoa now... it's improved a helluva lot [and surpassed Live easily] but it ain't at Inside Drive levels quite yet. :D

It's been confirmed that the "defensive crouch" button is back!!!! 2k is now the best game in the world.

It was confirmed by the one of the programmers of 2k6 at OS.
