NBA Live 360 videos

One of the most noticeable differences in gameplay is the increased amount of collision between players pushing off and posting up in the paint. There are 4x the animations in Live 360 then what you'll find on the Xbox and PS2, and this really helps add to the fluidity, and the feel of the game is a lot more realistic. Gone are the days of players skating like this is NHL Live. The players just feel more alive at times, even if some of the ball physics are still a bit jerky. We saw a lot of shots take some seriously unrealistic bounces off the rim, and to make matters worse, using the default camera, when you miss a shot, the camera zooms in on the rim. Not the players going for the rebound, but the rim. So you press jump and hope you grab the rock, but you really have no idea what's happening.

If you grab the ball, go back for the shot and get fouled, you'll then encounter an all new (as in ripped off 2K Sports) free throw shooting system using the right analog stick. Simply pull back, then press forward in one smooth motion to stroke the shot. Opponents have the ability to try and disrupt you by tapping X and B repeatedly to make your controller shake and up the pressure of each point.

It's weird that they say NBA Live rips off 2K Sports when NBA 2K6's is different (You pull down on the right stick but you dont push), plus NBA Live 360 had a free throw demo at E3 a few months ago with this same system.

New vids look pretty neat.

Some of the skating animations are still there, specifically when the player is moving backwards.

And they changed the ball>rim sounds.

Awaits for new 2k6 vids.

The sound effect when the ball hits the rim is way too clanky. The passes look average at best. Aside from the graphics these clips looked pretty standard.

Best looking next gen sports title by far. It looks photoreal at some angles, and the shootaround during loading...

Brilliant!

The animations are surprisingly bad. Everything else looks fantastic, so the animations stick out like a sore thumb.

Yea, the intro with the players looked amazing, but the animations during play still look really bad. The skating is still there.

Neither VC nor EA are going to work on the animations this year, they're just laying down the graphical framework for next year's games. Both 360 titles will essentially play the same as their lesser counterparts, the only real difference being the huge visual upgrade and perhaps a couple of bug fixes. Expect next year's 360 basketball games to animate a whole lot better. EA has no excuse for the skating effect to be in Live '07.

... watching those videos, it's apparent neither player is particularly apt at basketball games.

That's actually not true at all. I have no idea where you got this idea from, but it's just not true. In fact, they have spent a lot of time on the gameplay. If you've followed any of the developer comments you'd know they were really set on making this play more simmy [which is why superstar is gone, thank God] and they toned down freestyle to more realistic levels. Hell, the graphics on this game have been at this level for quite some time... and they didn't add any of the fluff modes either so they could spend even more time on the gameplay [on purpose]. They really want this game to play different in a big big way, so they're sinking most of their time into that now.

Damn those animations. It's a slap in the face to the rest of the package, as it single-handedly kills the real-life look thing.

Keep waiting... I waited over 2 weeks to see another video this past weekend showing replays!

While I am very excited for NBA2K6 and have it paid off for launch... VC and 2K Sports is not showing much on the game... that is very disappointing...

If NBA2K6 has a terrible create-a-player... I might have to rent/buy NBA Live 2006 because the create-a-player looks to be similar to Tiger Woods create-a-player... which is the best I have ever used.
