PSA: When posting in a live viewing thread I would think the majority of the people participating in said discussion are watching live, therefore the majority of the people are of the same understanding of what's going on.

I'm gonna assume you've never been in a GoT/TWD/any other TV show thread.

i'm looking at this and wonder how these people would react if their country would go into a war they'd end up losing.. i mean the aftermath.
How can you reprogram the minds and world view of an entire country? How many of these people actually know how fucked up everything is but play along because they fear for their lives? How willing would the country be for a change without that fear?

I can't think of any other country in history that resembled what North Korea is today, especially in terms of isolation.

Lobbing missiles at this sort of fanatical unity would be madness. They are a poor country, but have a ruthless and large military who are not scared of shit. It would not be pretty.

I think Nazi Germany and the Soviet Union comes pretty close.

I think Myanmar was the only other country closed off for a while.

But yeah it would be tough to be de-programmed, but it would be great to see them liberated.

They literally teach their children in school that the evil US is going to return one day to finish what they started in the Korean war. Imagine how most of them see us. They would probably sooner die than be liberated from their 'glorious supreme leader' and the regime that keeps a boot on them.

Missile analysts will react to missile porn. The main thing is that it was an unexpected reveal. No, you don't need to worry right now. But North Korea is not sitting on its ass and they are probably going to test this ICBM in the next year. (Previous model missiles appeared in the parade as mockups and were later made operational).

We'll see what analysts say in the next couple days.

They have relatives or people they know in the south. They know somethings different where they live. They just can;'t speak out about it. The old guard generals? Yeah, they hate the West though

Nazi Germany didn't exist long enough to be able to rid all Germans of their critical thinking. Even at its peak Hitler had a huge (but silent) opposition. Germans were familiar with the concept of having something other than Nazis in power. And it didn't take long for them to fully embrace democracy either.

Soviet Union is closer to North Korea that's true. But even then i feel like Russians themselves weren't fully submitted to the system as the North Koreans are. That may also be because of how large the Soviet Union was. Control on such a micro-level must've been harder than with North Korea.

This parade is completely surreal. Thousands and thousands of people. Not one person caught not wearing a suit or not being completely enthusiastic about whatever it is they're enthusiastic about. Not one person caught looking at a phone or anything.

There is no way that being taught that in school in that sort of isolation is not going to have an effect on majority of the population. It is literally part of their belief system, along with worshiping their leader like he is a god. It's who they are and what they know.
