I didnt read the thread before I started posting (it was like 35 pages, tl;dr!), but was there a lot of Britta hate or something? I know theres obviously been lots of Annie love, since Ive seen those GDB avatars in every thread :lol
The "I can't stand Britta" sentiment was evident early on, gained steam when Annie started taking more of a spotlight, but it seems to be cooling off now.

I guess people are finally starting to reflect and appreciate what she brings to the group's dynamic. Her assertive nature was turning a lot of people off. I really dig it though.

Stuff like this:

Britta Defense Force ASSEMBLE!
was deemed lol-worthy just a few weeks ago.

I've been a Britta fan since the start, and it's good that our kind can talk about it now without being hated on.

I should probably grab an avatar when the next episode hits.

I wont give up my Bond avatar, but if someone is willing to BDF it up, or finds a slick way to pair up Bond and Britta, then Ill use that :lol

Just rewatched the halloween episode. So good.

This might be the best Community avatar yet. And good christ, there a ton of them. Jibril's is blowing my mind with how unnecessarily animated it is.:lol

is the britta defense force stuff a put-on? like when people say they are a part of the spencer pratt defense force or hitler defense force or whatever? sometimes i just can't tell for sure on gaf.

No, its not a put on. Theyre just creepy man children with huge crushes on women who would never touch them.

Its as real as the Dick Casablancas Defense Force

yup, I still think that episode where Abed starts taking a film course is the most touching episode of TV I've seen in a while.
I thought the ending of that one was extremely ridiculous and contrived. I may have groaned audibly.

Oh HELL yeah. Bro.

I just realized all the posters I thought disappeared are just using Community avatars. Everyone looks the same now. :lol
Which is why I changed mine to someone a little more... distinctive.

I kinda just like the show... and have no creepy illusions of ever getting with either of these chicks...

But the gifs are funny.

The Chang/Jeff gif is hilarious. That scene was brutal to watch, Ken Jeong rules he killed it that episode.

Loved the end "Winger - one page essay on taking advantage of emotionally vulnerable people. Booyah!"

I like this show as well, but the multitude of Annie avatars creeps me the hell out.
I think the thread title needs to be updated for two reasons:

1. To lower expectations for anyone coming in to the show fresh, who will immediately compare it to the other shows.

2. To raise the expectations for anyone coming in to the show fresh, who will immediately be freaked out by everyone in here.

If I had to honestly choose, I'd single out Shirley as the least funniest character of the group, at least when she's on her own.

Not saying she's not funny, she definitely has her moments. Just don't feel she resonates as much with me as a standalone character. Not as rock solid as the others yet.

Her best moment was when she started trashing that teacher's stuff in the holloween episode.

Overall I think its just gonna take time as her character develops. Obvious every character has a backstory for their reason for being at a community college, even with what we know now there is plenty of room for things to flesh out so I'm hopeful everyone will get their chance to shine.

Shirley is a very straight character... she is this divorced black christian woman, she is the least eccentric of them all. Her funny trait is that she bottles everything up inside and say "That's nice" to everything, she's a black female Ned Flanders waiting to explode some day.

"HE'S A WITCH"

Shirley's Halloween rampage was great stuff. However, my favorite Shirley moments are when she's gossiping and talking shit about folks behind their backs.

Like that episode where her and Jeff became friends while bagging on Vahn. (tiny nipples! :lol). She was also giving Jeff a hard time. It was fun watching how devious yet playful she could be. She was really in her element then.

Or as Abed said: "thinly veiled raged issues".

So I finally wathced the first 8 episodes of this show. At first I was obsessed with Annie, but now I like Brita just as much maybe even a little more.
