Great episode, definitely an uptick from the last few mild eps. A couple of things worried me about this episode though. Britta's inclusion was incredibly lazy. Like every line she had was a snarky one liner interjected into the scene. I mean, it was still great material, but the way they'd pause the scene and cut to her for her line felt far too 80s sitcom-y. Combine that with the rather unbelievable sitcom-religion setup and it definitely felt like a step back for the show.

The other thing that worried me was how the show seems to be making it's homeruns off of token Holiday episodes, not the day to day stuff. Aside from the debate ep the non-holiday stuff has been kinda mediocre, at least comparatively.

What about the Holloween episode, you had to at least liked that right?

I think you are right though about Britta this ep though.

I noticed that too, but meh, 6 leads on a 22-minute show means not everyone's gonna get a good part each episode. Her delivery of the jokes was great though.

I sometimes wonder whether atheist characters (as in criticizing religion) can come off as simply funny in shows like this. They can in something like House. But there you have someone being both mean and funny. Any of the responses Britta would've given would probably involved something about logic or being rational and just wouldn't be very funny.

Goddamn it, this west coast shit is lame. I don't get to enjoy the show live with GAF! = (

Seriously though, funniest twenty minutes I've seen all year. Community, rock on.

Its too bad this thread creeps me the fuck out so much, because this was a great episode. probably the second best one after the Halloween one.

I lost my shit when Pierce clocked Jeff, even though we all saw that coming :lol
Loved the fight too. Whoever called it cliche must have an opposite dictionary. The cliche thing would have been Jeff's talk diffusing the situation, and no fighting. Instead, we got a battle royale :lol

The Dean really cracks me up (and not just in this episode, but in every one hes in). The non-denominational Mister Winter outfit and the "Merry Happy!" line had me in stitches.

Politically correct Dean is hilarious. Riding by some stupids he yells at them "HAPPY MERRY!" :lol

Good showing from the dean last night. He honestly used to annoy me but he has grown on me in recent episodes. I think the tipping point was the “This better not awaken anything in me” line. :lol

I also got big laughs when everyone was revealing their religion and Jeff says "Im Agnostic", only to have Pierce pipe in "a poor man's Athiest" :lol

Ok I only lurk this thread but love the show.

I can't believe no one's pointed out the funniest thing about this episode, when, after saying that fighting was "gay" the entire episode, right as the fight was starting Brita said, "Am I being punked?" as the guys took their shirts off.

I probably analyzed that setup WAY overboard, but this is what I think:

The focus of the episode was on Shirley so you could kind of say the story was told from her perspective. To her, that's what an atheist would be; an unimportant background character making snarky one liners.

I am so going to be the Human Being next halloween. That dude is creepy as fuck.

Damn! I wish I picked up on that. I heard the punked comment, but I thought it was just because the breakdancing fighters were so ridiculous, not because of the gay implications :lol

As a Jew myself, the whole "finish the word" thing had me laughing so hard. It's such a clever observation, all Jews feel the same way about it.. That was Curb Your Enthusiasm material right there :D

And in case you're wondering, Jews can call themselves Jews. Everyone else cannot. Sorry, that's just the way it goes.

Yeah I learned that life lesson yesterday. I felt like a douche. :lol

I wasn't aware we had one so answer the question!!

Knowing little to nothing about the US Office, my guess is that there's going to be some sort of big meta-reveal in the last episode, where we get to finally see the documentary crew, or their produced documentary, or a pull-back that reveals that everyone involved has just been acting the entire time.

Will it be as unfunny as the rest of the series? In all likelihood.

Great ep.

"It is hard to think of a different word"

Pierce clocking Jeff

Pierce and "Buddhism"

Britta's "Am I being punked?" when everyone takes off their shirts.

Christmas Troy was great too. I love how up front they are about how ridiculous the credit clips are. "Why do you guys do stuff like this?"

I've just spent a whole day catching up with all the episodes of Community. Awesome show, and the latest, Christmas episode was especially great.

But what's up with the people in this thread, Britta is clearly the hot chick on the show.

have they ever explained who the Office people are talking to when they're talking to the camera?
The Office is a mock documentary. They are talking to the fake documentary film crew. Try not to think about it too much, though. It's pretty easy to come up with examples where it doesn't really make sense.

Great news, Community went up again!
