NBC's Community Official Thread - the next Arrested Development/Office/30 Rock?

This episode was much better than the premiere, in my opinion, and shows the true potential for the show. I'm always iffy with pilots, and I don't usually cruise into shows until a few episodes in, anyway, but Community is apparently making it easier than usual.

It just feels like the show's humor is starting to take form. That was quick.

God, their presentation had me dying :lol Two episodes in, this show is already way better than The Office. Fucking love it.
Well THAT's going a bit far.

I honestly think it's a good compliment to The Office. Definitely a far superior one to Parks and Recreation. But, I'd sooner call it "different, in a good way" than call it better.

Alright, Community must succeed now. Such a great episode. Especially how they didn't even explain some of the jokes like some sitcoms would(silent protest). Chase and McHales presentation was completely amazing.:D

Which is sadly why it'll probably be cancelled halfway through the season :(

I'm trying so hard but this show is so unfunny.

Totally agree with you. I deleted my season pass after watching the second episode tonight. It didn't make laugh once. Painfully unfunny.

The ratings on the pilot were pretty good, and it's got The Office for a lead-in (at least for the next couple weeks). It's probably still too early to judge, but I think there's a good possibility this will get picked up for a back nine.

Yeah, this show rules. There are only a couple parts that aren't good, but once they tighten it all up, it has the potential to be pure awesome. Does Joel McHale write any of it?

Holy shit this show is awesome. I was fucking rolling during their presentation, especially when they started waving the flags :lol :lol

The girl crying got me :lol:lol

not gonna lie, "take - your breath away", and "did you say s?" got a pretty hearty laugh outta me

i didn't see the pilot, so I dunno that might be why I didn't really find the first 15 minutes that great...

Great episode again :D

Oops. I think I accidentally set the senor chang gif to non-repeat. haha :X

[edit] nvm, each time i scroll up, it restarts... O__O

The show definitely has promise. The presentation was awesome, but I felt that the early part of this episode was a little flat. Just seemed like it was going nowhere, kind of hard to put my finger on what it was, but it just felt slow.

Spanish class intro was pretty good, though I hope they don't make Chang (or whatever) too one dimensional.

It's not to the point where it's funny for me all episode long, but there are some flashes of greatness here and there. Definitely going to keep watching.

Pretty good episode. Though I'm having a hard time becoming interested in the lesser half of the cast. But only two episodes in, so they have plenty of time to sort that out.

Give it time. You gotta get the base characters down before you can move on. Look at the Office, it only focused on about 4 people for a little while before moving on to the others in the office.

Yeah, I'll definately give it until season 2.

Speaking of which, when does this season end? Is this one of those pilot seasons where they have like 6 episodes?

There's a 13 episode order for now, it'll probably get a back-9 if the ratings hold up.

Throw me in with the crowd that feels this episode was much better than the first. Alot of it still kinda fell flat (Chang's tirade felt incredibly forced), but it seemed like there were alot more genuinely funny moments in this episode than in the last. And I don't care what anybody says, Chevy Chase has been brilliant in this show thus far.

The best part for me was the fact that over the summer I took Spanish at my own local community college and we used the exact same textbooks as was on the show today!

We even had to do a hispanic cultural project. I didn't act shit out though, I just presented mine on power point lol.

ha, i just finished buying that book for a friend for her spanish class :lol

Yeah, just finished watching it on Hulu.

I love this show already. Though I hope they tone down the whole Jeff desperately trying to get into Britta's pants thing. That's already getting a little old.

Everything else is great though.

"We should talk about Jeff's tardiness."
"Don't use that word around Abed!"

So how do people feel about this show?

I'm not trying to rile people up, I'm just curious. I personally find the main character completely unlikable, the whole storyline with him and the girl really old already, and Chevy Chase is extremely annoying. Also, that storyline about the Guam activism didn't make any sense to me, it just felt so completely random. Why did they get so excited about being activists for Guam? Why were they looking to the lead girl character as such a role model?

I dunno, the throw-away jokes were funny, but the main plot line was really stupid.
