Nearly 160 hours in, MGSV still feels SO GOOD to play (controls, feedback, game feel)

Didn't see this thread before, but yes. This is EXACTLY why I love the game so much. It's all about the feel, the design, and the details. It's a thing of beauty. The controls are perfect and exemplary.

My only slight concern is how Snake seems to have a tendency to stand up from a crawl if you go over a funny-shaped bit of terrain. But I think I've learned to manage that.

The story (or lack of) honestly never enters my mind - you make up your own story with every mission, it's like I'm back playing with my GI Joes.

Awesome! I kept trying to shoot the front pilot. Even then it was hard for me to penetrate the windshield. Maybe I should try an anti-material rifle.

Either way, it's fun doing dramatic barrel rolls as the gunship tries to shoot me, lol.

Yes, better use a Brennan.

Look at my edit too. You'll love this nice little detail.

Fun fact: looking for it lately, solely because of TPP, i learned that one of Mil Mi-24's nicknames was 'Krokodil'.
Ha! This actually makes me think of this guy from Pokemon:

Krookodile, a robber-themed crocodile!

BTW, how do you guys get D-Walker's
Fulton Ballista
?

I agree with OP, the fluidity of the controls are phenomenal. Controlling Snake in Ground Zeroes feels totally different now since I've gotten so used to TPP's responsive controls.

Wait, what? I hope this is just a joke. The Witcher 3 is an example of some of the worst character controls and animation in a current gen game. Absolutely awful. I hate the way it feels to the point where I don't enjoy playing it.

this is exactly how i feel playing witcher 3 after mgsv. lol

I cant even finish the game. Good game but extremely repetitive.

Yeah me too, I am finding all the mother base stuff extremely boring and pointless. I went back to bloodborne this morning and it is so good to be back.

It will be a struggle to finish the main missions in MGS V

This is coming from someone who bought the MGS V ps4 console

MGSV controls and plays extremely well. There is no denying that.

It's a shame that the pacing, structure, sexism, repetitive mission structure, poor open-world and bland characters lets the game down. It would have been GOTG tier otherwise.

Chinner my man, i think you and I have very different opinions about what sexism is.
And i mostly disagree with the rest of what you said.

The main base does send out choppers and helicopters, but only at high active combat readiness. It also sends jeeps with soldiers from other bases. Not sure why you think this part is somehow unfinished? Also they will sometimes send a four man team outside the main base perimeter if they have the manpower. There's even a guy in charge who will be like "on me" and if they take awhile to get there he will mumble they're slacking. At that point they'll go pretty far afield and issue orders to split up. That said, them mostly sticking to bases and outposts is clearly by design. They wanted the zone in-between sandboxes to be a safe staging-zone. Got a combat alert? Run like hell out of the base and into the wilderness. If the player makes it they're rewarded with the end of the alert and can make a new plan or phantom cigar back to normal if they have it. This is clearly to keep an alert from being overly punishing. Also, if your objective is in the base you have to go back in anyway so it makes sense to keep the majority of the defenses there. I don't think technical ability has anything to do with it. It's not hard to spawn a tank to follow your position, GTA has done that for years.

Oh and major bases have a shitload of enemies, go back and count how many are in OKBzero if you don't believe me. If it's not at least 43 I'd be shocked.

I don't agree fully. Take Mission 45
(Quiet)
for example. You will experience things in this mission that you won't find in any other mission/sideop.
Tanks are only active in missions. In side-ops they just stand around and will only shot at you and drive a short distance when alert is triggered, try it out.
You won't find Bradley-Type Tanks that deploy infantry in other missions or free-roam the way it is done in mission 45.
I'm not shitting on the game- it's my GOTY so far (F**k the Witcher3). But it should have been possible to create some of that mission 45 madness in free-roam similar to GTAs 5/6 star level.
I'm just saying it's too easy to escape an alert situation, because the enemy is often underpowered. And I haven't seen choppers and jeeps coming from the main base in a long time, simply because it's way too easy to shut down alert status by killing everyone.
All I was asking for was that the enemy needs some more manpower to put you in "hot" situations more often.

Also, the density of soldiers is higher in Camp Omega compared to Russian Main Base and OKB Zero, meaning enemy soldiers simply have to guard a smaller area in GZ, which makes it easier for the AI to exert pressure on the player, since you couldn't escape into the wilderness in GZ.
