Fuck man, goat.

The most useful tip I ever had on cooking steaks was to let it sit out till it's room temp, then sear the crap out at high heat on both sides. Then it's done, and it's perfect.

Of course all gaffers (whom are also well-endowed with 13" wangs mind you) are Michelin star chefs whose steaks come out looking like this:

Git gud OP

Guys come on. You are being way to hard on him.

First post tried to make it seem like because of how it was cooked (medium-rare) it's no good as a joke, proclaiming rare to be the best (figuratively). Everyone hopped on like it's terribly cooked. Just fucking google what a cooked steak should look like (rare or medium) and this isn't too far off, aside from it being slightly overdone, but still juicy.

Basically OP don't feel bad.

Also the camera makes it look way worse than it probably taste.

nothing like a good ole food thread backfire.

struggle steak to replace struggle euro sandwich the circle of gaf meme life.

But... just like the eurowich, people aren't really that disgusted by the sandwich, its the aesthetic and dopey nature of the photograph, how it just accentuates a sad quality to the subject in the photo. Its hard to replicate a shot like that. Hence the meme shots. It even has Don hair on it... c'mon....you get it....

Steak will kill you, so I hear. Never understood the appeal of this hard meat.

And what do you eat, eggs?!?

Cause it tastes great?

Steak isn't going to kill you anymore than anything else.
Doesn't taste like anything to me, other than what you add to it. So another more chewable meat woukld make sense to me. Been to so many restaurants whee friends and family chomp on this meat. Convinced it's more psychological than good.

It's sort of like how prisoners use to be fed sea food and we see how that got transformed in people's minds.

If you're calling steak "hard" meat, I'm afraid you've never had a decent steak.

Sous vide for life, motherfuckers!
I've been told this by 30 people atleast throughout my life . I guess I'll never find soft steak. Seems to be a reason it comes with a knife.

I think I just prefer softer than it can ever actually be. Give be the boiled ass with potatoes and that's fine.

Chicken is fantastic. Now chicken is bad? Because it's a smaller animal?

It's chewable, can taste like whatever you want as well. Steak is hard and just weighs on your teeth and jaw.
The fuck kinda steak are you ordering? Do you have it burnt to a rubbery crisp, aka well done? Because that's what you're describing.

Some people have no photo game. Its amazing.

Couldve looked good but the photo looks like its a struggle meal.

Various restaurants and places growing up. Grandparents are definitely restaurant people as was my exs family. mostly when I was younger and never would finish it. I think the only reason I had it to begin with us because people automatically feel or think it's good. I just always felt it's hard and rather tasteless for the most part.

Not being a dick to you guys but honestly I think it's psychological for steak. It's given and seen as a high end too tier meal and we wouldn't have much way to think differently about it. I do prefer softer easier to chew foods on average though.

I do like a nice roast beef.

I'm convinced that you've never actually had a good steak. And no, steak is not automatically good just because you bought it at a restaurant or because it's expensive.

If you want soft steak, go to Japan and have some wagyu. That is on another level.

Steak is a pub feed in Oz. 10 bucks for a 200g rump, chips, salad n sauce.

Cant beat a rare rump steak with some mushroom sauce if you ask me.

You probably just don't have the taste for it as you say you prefer softer, easier to chew food. (although steak can be pretty soft so its probably the chewing).

When I get cuts of steak that are tough and hard to jam a knife into, I can't stand it either. But there is good and bad cuts of steak. Try some nice marbled steak. Look for this:

You want that nice intramuscular fat, something like A5 Wagyu steak. It's got the softness you're looking for. And it will blow your damn mind.

The fuck? Who drops regular-ass butter on top of a steak?

A piece of quality garlic butter I could totally understand, but just butter? You want it to just slide down your gullet in one bite or what?

Also, next time, turn the heat up on your pan. There's zero searing going on. Amateur hour all around.

It ain't perfect but if you enjoyed it then who gives a shit. Nobody needs to cook perfect food every time, especially if it's just for oneself.

Having said that, agreed on upping your photo game.

I applaud the OP for being brave enough to post what a correctly cooked steak looks like. Well, internally, exterior could use more of a sear. That placid puddle of butter should have been used to create said crust.

A5 is expensive as fuck tho. Thats the highest grade of beef a human-being can purchase. While its absolutely worth trying once, you've gotta have some serious paper to be able to afford to consume that on a constant basis.

I know you guys would want to grill me, even though I would say some of those look ok, not what op has but a few of the darker ones

Grill me cause I'd rather just eat a good meat loaf than streak. But I do think think that makes sense. Meat loaf would often get a bad rap but to me with the right moisture, breading, onions and other additives find it decent. Definitely ultra soft and maybe why it's something I can prefer

I won't say I'd never like a steak but seems unlikely. Maybe a specialized one with a distinct flavor and feeling of it was chewable.

I dunno though, I always feel like I'd have to chew for minutes to break it up. Maybe my teeth are just wimpy. I also probably psyche myself out on the chew thing

I don't even know what grade most places have had that I tried. I obviously never went to a fancy or high end rich restaurant but typical places that we all know.

A good steak is probably my favourite food, and would easily be my choice for last meal. My most hated food, on the other hand, is meatloaf. I loathe meatloaf.

So basically, I hate everything about what you posted and think you're a bad person for having that opinion.

Boo to you sir, boo to you.
