In some countries

They just cook Steak for you Well Done

And think you're a weirdo if you ask for it 'undercooked'

Argentina for one from one trip

A lot of chefs put a bit of butter on a steak while it cools and settles but a) not nearly that much and b) it should be allowed to fully melt down before eating.

Olive oil is much better (and healthier) and it brings out the taste of the meat, instead of disguising it under the butter.

Won't lie...your steak looks like shit. I still would eat it though, coz at the office right now, on diet and super hungry :(

You need a proper cast iron skillet to pan fry that steak. It looks like it was cooked on some nonstick pan on low.... With the lid on.

dont listen to people with more asparagus on their plate than steak.

just get some nice a1 sauce, heinz 57 or ketchup if you dont have either, cook it like so

Since everyone's uploading proper pics, here's a prime NY steak I cooked with sous vide and finished on my cast iron skillet

Was that thing boiled in butter and one side was left raw completely?

Yeah, that steak looks disgusting. No crust (just slightly brownish on three sides), way too wet.

I completely understand everyone criticizing the Steak and how unappetizing it looks. But what the hell is the surprise with there being butter melted on top of a steak? Do y'all never cook or do you guys just throw meat on a burner without really caring what you get?

I'd ignored this thread for a day, but kept seeing it pop up. I was curious as to why people kept adding to what seemed like an otherwise banal thread.

Holy shit, now I see. I'm not at all a steak guy, but god damn OP. That... doesn't look very good.

I think OP is just trying to create his own $30 meal/potato lunch/strugglewich thread. It's not working.
I think it is working actually. Definately needs to go in the italian meal/euro cheesewich/cube sandwich Hall of Fame. Only it should be called the $15 Struggie Steak.
