Anyway, this NFS title might actually be good since they're ditching the Underground theme. I wonder if the Underground fans will like it...well fuck em anyway :P It's about time they bring back the real NFS

question: if you have this design document or whatever the fuck, why is the only scan of a half ass CG model? Why not scan the entire document so that people will believe anything your website ever says?

I heard that Xenon would be EA's lead platform on many multiplatform games starting now, not a bad thing I'd say. Take the most powerful platform, then backport to everything else. Makes you wonder why they did not do it with the current gen, instead of giving Xbox/NGC people halfway done ports with mostly sucky texturing.

It's the most powerful by far RIGHT NOW. I never said it would stay the most powerful in 2006. It certainly won't, as a matter of fact.

i dont think that. they wouldnt screw all other 128bit console games for one platform with obiously no users. in my opinion ea is giving the second xbox only upgraded ports. (if this news are true)
 
I'm sure that EA has seen specs for some or all of the next gen machines - but they don't always choose the most powerful system as their lead platform:

Genesis gives way to SNES ports
PS2 gives way to Xbox & GC ports

So, with that logic, that EA has seen all the specs, and hypothetically has chosen Xenon - then if history repeats, the Xenon is least powerful.

Isn't "porting up" usually simpler than "porting down" though? And by making the Xenon their lead platform for next gen SKUs, aren't they really just following the same strategy as this gen (lowest common denominator)?

Of course it's simpler, but coming from the world #1 publisher you could expect that they'd take the time to do something well, like Visual Concept did for ESPN NFL 2k5 for example.
As for the whole of next gen, who knows if Xenon will stay the lead platform. I sure don't, and I doubt even EA knows what they will be doing in 2+ years.
 
If I were a mod here, and one day I will be, I'd ban this joker until RE4 for Xbox is announced.

And I believe this is against the TOS. It's annoying already.

Porsche Unleashed was good on the PC for its time but all the others have been ass, cept NFSU2. Ill take a NFSU3 please.

or if history repeats itself its the first one released. The Genny and PS2 have more in common than being the least powerfull... trying to show any sort of pattern based off of 2 things is going to be pretty hard to do. Especially considering they basically supported on platform last gen (PSX) with token support for N64 and Saturn.

Internally at EA and Criterion this game is still being developed as a PS2/Xbox title. There's a goddamn exclusive for you.

IMO, they have had their lead platform defined more by sales than by architecture.

Their lead platform is whatever system will give them the highest sales.

The problem with the images is that thay are all on a printed sheet. The image with the piece is boxart from some old version, I think on GBA. I am hoping to get more images at some point.

Actually, Saturn also started as EA's lead platform. Obviously things changed pretty quick though...

The details and platform are an ok scoop (though the name has been known to be a NFS title for quite awhile). However, you're still plugging, then hiding behind that "im informing111" crap. Surely someone else would post on it.

Battlefield: Modern combat is also slated for a Xbox2 release as a launch title.

(I know it´s a DICE game but EA is publishing it so..)

...anyone specifically know which other sports games are slated? EA's really behind Xenon full force, it's kind of shocking.
 
There've been some pretty fucking bad misnomers, errors or guesswork on Spong in it's time -- but I'm not among those who'll tirelessly slag it off and refuse to accept that they may actually get legit news once in a while.

I'd of only seen this if I'd of visited the site, or checked MCV (which I rarely do) so I appreciate the heads up...

Backporting generally costs more, and produces seriously castrated results on the weaker platforms(usually below the platform's average). Not the best idea if the weaker platform happens to be the market leader.

Of course it's simpler, but coming from the world #1 publisher you could expect that they'd take the time to do something well

Don't you read the news? EA developers are already working 48hours a day and still have to cut features in every game to meet the deadlines ;)
Anyway, of course in ideal world they'd take the time with each platform they support, but this is EA we're talking about...
 
If real, I'd say it's a pretty good exclusive. The rhetoric looks at least similar to other EA documents I've seen, so at least whoever created the alleged document has seen one before.

The Spong hate is getting old, really. At least I don't mind plugging news stories if they are significant enough.
