The game's perfectly fine without tweaking settings, better than the console versions that's for sure.

Of course, I'm not going to argue against this. Even if the game does not keep a locked 60fps the framerate is still superior to what can be found on either consoles. Same goes for the graphics, going by the screenshots it's a very beautiful game on PC.

Is it so bad that those options are available for us advanced users? It doesn't stop the less technical minded from simply installing and playing the game with automatic settings.

I never voluntarily implied otherwise. I was just referring to the fact that the PC version as it is requires some tweaking to get the best of out of it and that can be a problem for some people.

you can't have it both ways.

Yes you can. Play with default settings, get a better looking game than the console versions and you don't have to worry about tweaks. Else you can get more out of the experience by tweaking your game to look better or perform better on higher end settings. You get out as much as you put in, if you want something simple you can get it, if you want something better you can get it. You can't fault the platform for allowing people to put time into getting enthusiast results if they so desire.

The framerate only gets unacceptable when enabling higher end effects in my experience, stuff that you don't need running to get the best looking version of the game while retaining a solid fps, and stuff that the enthusiast crowd would want to get the most out of, ignorable by everyone else.

I guess the developers could have just locked it to 30fps, stripped out the high end DX11, shadowing and geometry. Sure would have made it a whole lot hassle free, right? I appreciate the chance to choose.

Somehow this is running better on my 8800 GTS (320mb) than Hot Pursuit did!

Its all on low settings however the places it really seems to slow down on are in the tunnels like everyone else mentions...

We've reached an interesting point in PC gaming where nearly every release can be run at 60 fps (or higher) with maxed out visuals and tons of AA. It's rare that a new title hits the PC that decently powerful machines can't handle flawlessly.

When a game IS released that pushes the hardware a bit more and people can't use all of the options they feel cheated.

I'll be curious to see what happens when the next generation of consoles hit. If the hardware is a decent jump forward we could start seeing PC versions of games that can't be easily maxed out. The reaction should be interesting.

For however brief such a period would be, I (for one) will be elated if that happens. Many have been waiting for games that take full of advantage of or beyond what PCs are capable of today.

I hope thats the case. Because that means that GPUs and CPUs will be properly pushed, not just drawing low poly scenes at high res with some fancy effects. And also provides headroom for future generations of PCs to push forwards

Honestly the sunglare is beautiful and it needs to stay. They just have to let us choose to turn off those ugly particles on the screen. Hell, even when you are on grass they throw grass on camera. What the fuck I don't want that.

Dropping AO to medium and Geometry to low has given me a very stable 60fps framerate at 1080. Still get hitching in the citys, but i seems more like loading. Quick 2-3 second drops down to 40ish. Annoying, but I'm sure a SLI profile will clear some of the issues.

Exactly same setup as mine. Disabling AO and setting Geometry Detail to low seems to give me a pretty constant 60 FPS with only some drops here and there.

Now if we could find some better AA implementation...

All my games are installed on my 512GB SSD, doesn't make a difference for this game. Still 40-60FPS fluctuation.

Damn, also that's a big ass SSD.

Not gonna start cursing Criterion (or whoever did the port) just yet. I'll give it a week or two to see if they manage to fix most of it (at least the fps problems).

Nope. I even tried to add possible settings to the config file inside the Most Wanted folder, like "AntiAliaising=false" or "SMAA=false", but not surprisingly, nothing worked.

I'm getting a solid 60fps the majority of the time. When it does dip it seems like its loading a new area (coming across a bridge into a city), but sometimes it seems to happen in areas where it shouldn't. It mostly drops to the upper-40s and in rare cases the lower 40s.

GPU utilization seems to be in the 90% realm, so I don't see a whole lot wrong with this port from my experience. Burnout Paradise on the other hand used like 30% of my GPU and if i tried to run it in 3D I would get like 20-30fps with lowered settings which is ridiculous.

I like the game so far, but considering I'm 35% done with it after 3 hours of play--I'm glad I broke my 'no 30fps games' rule and bought Forza Horizons. It's so good after getting used to the framerate (and this is coming from someone who lowers settings to get 120fps on pc games whenever possible)

Holy crap, just tried this.

I've never seen a game as poorly optimized as this in the last decade. In the city I'm getting like 15fps with my 580GTX. Game is basically unplayable in its current state. Would have been better off getting it on PS3 since as ugly as it looks it'll at least be playable.

Can you get refunds off Origin? I feel ripped off that I spent $50 on a game that's unplayable on a pretty decent gaming rig.

Nvidia only forces single GPU in a profile when they've tested the game and determined that SLI doesn't work because the game is incompatible with the tech, or because the game is CPU limited and will see no benefit from SLI. And as we've seen, this game is clearly CPU limited because dropping the res from x1080 to x720 makes next to no difference on the framerate, even though there's something like 40% fewer pixels to render.

Framerate is all over the place to the point of not wanting to play it but I havent tried tweaking any settings just yet.

Recently finished Dishonored w/ everything enabled & 4X SGSAA forced and it ran beautifully.

Can't be CPU limited when it doesn't even utilize higher end CPUs beyond 30-40% on a single thread.

And you say it isn't GPU limited but my one GPU's fan is whizzing away while the card is peaking at 70* temps which is very rare. So it's being worked like a dog.

SLI support is always behind in DX11 titles.

On another note, the game can really look beautiful when downsampled and with no HUD.

45-50fps at 1920x1080 and all graphical options turned to maximum values, drops to low 40s inside of a tunnel and that's the absolute lowest it goes, 50+ when completely outdoors normally. If I turn off AO I get capped 60 at all times with Vsync on. Turning both Vsync and AO off gives me about 70-80fps.

After several hours of playing today, I had no crashes, no performance issues, and no general problems with the game whatsoever. Seems to be a solid port from every angle on my end, except for the AA.

Yes, lots of tearing. A game like this shouldn't even be fluctuation because it's not that technical, we have much nicer looking games that can maintain a solid 60. Just piss poor optimization. So "45-50" is not perfect. And going inside tunnels maxed out will drop it even further.

I honestly don't know what you're talking about. With Vsync on I never saw any tearing whatsoever in my hours of playtime.

When entering a tunnel the FPS will instantly drop from like 55 to 45, but if it wasn't for the fact that I had an FPS gauge running in the upper left hand corner of the screen I would never even know.

I seem to be getting comparable FPS with Need For Speed with pretty much any other game I play.

Being able to nitpick FPS is a curse, not a blessing.

I get no microstuttering whatsoever. I haven't personally seen it on my system with this game.
