Neil Druckmann: "don’t bet on there being more of ‘Last of Us. This could be it"

Or is it just one of Phil's balls in my throat?

Then there's the long-whispered possibility of "The Last of Us Part III."

"I was waiting for this question," Druckmann says, sighing, when I bring up the prospect of a third game. "I guess the only thing I would say is don't bet on there being more of 'Last of Us.' This could be it."

Will that apply to remasters too?

I can't imagine what they'd do with this series anymore outside if a prequel with Joel and Tommy doing runs that ends with their rift. But I like it's ambiguous, just like the "incident" in RDR 2 that sets that entire series into motion.

Am I crazy or didn't they already announce part 3. Not directly like they did with intergalactic or anything, but moreso through their documentaries and interviews.

I should get The Last of Us on PC.
But sadly all version have 'Part 1' in the title.
How do I get the version that is titled 'The Last of US'?
And my Gosh Playstation games on Steam are expensive.
$60

As soon as HBO flashes that bag for a fourth season you KNOW they'll try and get the next game out ASAP. You already have assets from the online game.

Druckmann doesn't even need to direct. Just have a smaller team work on the game. A tight 12-16 hour experience is all we need. Not a 20+ hour monster.

The franchise died with Joel.
Yeah I literally loved the IP and then stopped caring after learning about Joel's fate. Found TLOU2 for $4 a Black Friday but haven't even opened the box. Some say the gameplay is great and maybe it is but playing a ND game with no interest in the story makes no sense. And imagine the TV show with just Bella Ramsey and no Pedro Pascal lmao

I kind of hope so.

Second game has one of the worst stories i've come across with the most unlikeable new characters to go alongside it.

Druckmann ruined the franchise for me.

Sure, and Druckman was teasing about "one more chapter" in the story just a month ago, because they were not hoping for third game. Gray is fine as long as not everything is gray.

Something tells me that he's saying this now so that people will focus on Intergalactic and not ask about TLOU3 anymore. He even says in the interview, "I was waiting for this question".

A main game and a spin-off/filler and that's it. Has been a good run, but I'd have liked a closure for the main story (I mean the infection and all the stuff of the first game, not the lesbo/trans child rage of the second chapter).

Fine by me.

Thought they were working on it already, based on hints in the previous interview. Whatever. Just make the next IP as good, if not better.

Highly possible. Even if it is being considered, it's probably 5 years out at the minimum. It'll probably end up depending on how the show's writing evolves as well.

I honestly felt like the multiplayer game would've been a cool way to tie it all up. But yeah, I don't think there needs to be a third story based game IMO.

I still think a prequel covering some timeframe after the initial outbreak could be interesting and I'd still love to see more of Bill's story if only a vignette.
