Not liking TLOU 2 story isn't a matter of being childish or toxic. The game is obviously divisive. A lot of folks didn't like the way the story went at that's fine. I thought it was fantastic from beginning to end. I'd take a part 3 in a heartbeat.

Why you may ask?

It's because there are so many video games and series these days, that you have to be "edgy" to stand out from the competition.

It wasn't like that in the 80s/90s (fewer media to consume)... there's a reason Nintendo acted like a "dictator" back then (few 3rd party game releases per year).

I still think a prequel covering some timeframe after the initial outbreak could be interesting and I'd still love to see more of Bill's story if only a vignette.

I'm sure this has already been said, but count me as someone who doesn't believe this for a moment. There will be a TLOU3, it's practically guaranteed. It just might be awhile. Neil needs more time to think of ways to fuck up Ellie's life even further.
