Well thanks for the tip, kind of wish I'd known that earlier. I've been thinking about it and I'll probably just order some flat plugs to fill the holes for the time being, though. Don't know what I need 8 buttons for, really, and now that I've got all 6 white buttons in the US alignment I'm happy with it

Me personally, I'd like to do one row as red yellow green blue, rock the Neo Geo reference. =)

Nice speakers. Those are Paradigm correct? If so, I have the exact same set....very nice stuff
Yah well I had to get something decent for my Onkyo NR905 receiver.. i was gonna skimp but friends were bitching about it. only caveat was the matching paradigm speaker stands they're way over priced and kinda tip over too easy on carpet >< they looked good at the paradigm display room tho!

At least you didn't break the wires or PCB, buttons can be replaced easily enough. Good idea with the plugs imo.
Would've been a great idea but one of the buttons I want to plug up ended up being the X button. Can't start a game or choose a character or anything without an X button. I put the other still-perfect black button in the X spot and the flat plug will go on the square, I suppose. Wish I'd never even tampered with this crap now

Put this together today. Pics aren't the best...not good with a camera.

Norris Purpleheart case.
JLF w/ ls-33 spring & shaft cover
Clear Seimitsu buttons
Cthulhu w/ Per's mounting plate.

You can still wire the X button to a different hole than the one marked 'X'. Who cares if the labeling doesn't match? You'll know what it is.

I suppose so, but whatever. After breaking the one button I am not really pumped with excitement when I think about removing more of the disconnects

is making your own stick really expensive?

This is what I want to know. I asked the other day and didn't get a response about that (but I did get some links to some general information pages that were very helpful). If some one can give me some estimates, maybe just how much their sticks cost to build or whatever, that would be helpful.

About $120 for a quality stick.

PCB - $40
Stick - $25
Buttons - $3 *8
Case - ??

You'll also need quick connects, wires, wire crimpers and some miscellaneous tools, then any special printing for your custom art. It'll total about $120.

Thanks Manabanana. Okay I have a second question that maybe someone can answer or give me a detailed guide about. I want to make the stick work primarly with the Xbox 360, so is there anything special I need to do to it? Do I need a specific PCB, like one from a 360 controller or something?

Or if anybody just has a detailed guide that has to do with building 360 sticks, that would be helpful incase I have any other questions come up.

You think that's bad? I'm in debt $240 for a Japanese HRAP EX:SE. I weep for my credit.

Mine is scheduled to arrive on February 17th from NCSX. If, by chance, you get your earlier then please snap a photo or two. I'm mostly curious if it has a shiny or matted surface.

or do I buy Sanwa GT-Y Octagonal Restrictor Plate?
this one. I would tell you to to practice on the Square gate 1st if your having to much of a hard time get the octagonal. It took me a week to get the hang of the square.

Everyone talks about an octagonal. I'm just curious what is the benefits of a square? and what is the benefit of the octagonal?

Its more of a preference thing. Square has shorter throw but I know that square made QCFx2 very hard at 1st. Oct make QCF easier but has longer throw. But like i said its preference.

What the guy above me said, basically a matter of preference. My guess is that most of the people asking for octagonal played at the arcades with American joysticks (hard spring not loose and circle/octagonal gate). There really is no benefit to one or the other just a matter of practicing whatever you prefer. The general consensus though is that at first (and really this is like maybe a day max), square is easier for charge characters (you can hold down + back with 100% accuracy, shorter range for input) and octagonal is easier for quarter circle/360 motions.

Actually octagonal has a shorter throw in the diagonals.
I find octagonal easier to pull circular moves, but I have a harder time finding the diagonals.

Just got the backorder email from capcom. Boo!
you just got one now? Did you get an email from them a while ago?

edit: HOLY SHIT, my order says "Order in Process". I think that means I'm getting one :D :D

Just got the backorder email too. Fuck you Capcom. :lol

If it's not shipped out by tomorrow, I'm calling them up and bitching everyone out until they cancel my order. This is unacceptable.

Seems like Gamestop got the majority of the TE sticks. Anyway on to plan B will retailers be getting the SE fightstick in and if so when?

I plan on doing the same thing. This freaking sucks. :(

I'm pretty much done with my Mayflash / Sanwa mod now, just gotta connect the buttons and I'm done. It's not a mod I recommend, there are probably easier ones out there.

I'll post pics when I'm done (if I can find a camera).

sigh, got en email from capcom that my TE stick for the PS3 is backordered. guess i'm gonna have to wait for that one.

It might not mean anything, but I called Best Buy to cancel my TE order and the lady specifically mentioned that it was a "backorder." My info still listed it as "preordered."

Dumb question, would a 360 fighting stick work on the ps3 since it's usb?
it won't.

The port is the same, but they're using a different kind of protocoll - which is why it'll only work on computers using a special driver.

You can't install that on a PS3.

My local GS has the Hori EX2 stick for 360 at $40. Is it worth it? I've never used an arcade stick before and its between the madcatz gamepad and the Hori. appreciate any advice
